Twice Told Tales FIFTY YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of January 30, 1930) Ray F. Conway, city clerk, who has charge of the issuing of fishing licenses in this section, informs the Plaindealer that he has received the license cards for 1930 and is now ready to supply same to "anyone wanting to take out a state license. Ifteidentally, Mr. Conway stated that he has been issued License No! l this year, which comes to him in recognition of his splendid work in handling v the licenses and in getting his reports in to the state promptly. He has now completed 78,764. of the 100,000 mile quota which he set for himself and which he expects to have completed by the end of 1940. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of January 27, 1955) Only a few hours remain before the annual Mothers March on Polio, conducted locally and through the nation in connection with the March of Dimes drive. Porch lights throughout the city and surrounding area will be turned on to indicate the desire of the folks who live there to donate to this worthwhile campaign. Home economics students enrolled at the University of Illinois will take on the role of public relations personnel when they return to their homes between semesters. McHenry's guest will be Charlotte Hogan of Ringwood. She is one of 72 girls who have volunteered to spend time during their vacations telling high school girls in Illinois about home economics in particular.
