As a result of the loss, the Eagles dropped into a second place tie with Crystal Lake South in the Fdx Valley conference. The Johnsburg machine is rolling again. The spark plugs are working well. FEBRUARY The McHenry Rotary will reportedly schedule a rematch with the local Kiwams club, after the Kiwanians defeated them in a basketball game. The final score was 61-48 in the game between two of McHenry's civic organizations. The Warrior basketball team had the home fans humming when they defeated Jacobs 63 to 53. Coach Ken Ludwig pulled a switch in the second period, going from a zone to a full court man to man press that battled the Golden Eagles. In their last conference dual meet of the season, the McHenry varsity wrestlers lost to the Tigers of Crystal lake Central by one point. The match that had been rescheduled twice this season because of hazardous wintry roads was a lopsided 23-3 in favor of the Tigers after the first six weight classes. Two Tiger forfeits and three Warrior wins helped McHenry move up to within one point of Crystal Lake. After trailing 2 to 0, the McHenry high girls' basketball team got 20 unanswered points to go to a 68-61 victory over the Crystal lake Tigers. ^ At the first Fox Valley conference wres t l ing tournament at Woodstock, Ed Hughes made the best showing from the Warrior ranks, capturing the second place medal in the 155 weight class. Hughes, a junior, decisioned his Jacobs op ponent, Young, in the first round 6-5, won a 9-3 decision over Muscot of Dundee in the semi-final round and lost the championship match 5-1 to Foster of Crown. Foster had a 19-4 record going into the tourney compared to Hughes 9-4-1 which he upped to 11-5- 1. Bobby Zeller's 18-footer with five seconds remaining enabled the McHenry War riors to defeat the Crystal Lake Tigers 53 to 52. Only seconds before, Tom Pence of the Tigers made two charity tosses to put the Tigers in the lead 52 to 51. After a Warrior time out, the stage was set for Zeller's heroics and the young lad came through in fine style. Coach Pam Schaefer's McHenry high girls' basketball team won their third straight Fox Valley conference game when they avenged an earlier defeat by Jacobs by winning 50 to 36.
