Hoffman Est. 9 12 20 12 53 By Dick Rabbitt The McHenry Warriors held off a last mmute rally by Hoffman Estates\to win a real thriller on Saturday night bv the score of 55 to 53. It was the second win for the Warriors oyer a Mid Suburban conference team in the past two weeks, having defeated Fremd 81 to 71 several weeks ago. The Warriors were at their best to defeat the talented crew from Hoffman Estates. It was what you would call a super game. Both teams played tough defense, they shot well, mistakes were $ery few, and the sideline antics of the H.E. coach had the crowd buzzing all night. It was high school*basketba!l at its best. Jim Johnson got the 53 win for their thirteenth victory of the season. On Friday, the Warriors will play a conference game against Crown at West campus. ot tcr doata «i; A vmp r> A vi non TRAPPED HAWK?~This Hoffman Estates ball carrier finds three Warriors closing in as he looks for a teammate. The second period saw all the Warriors get into the scoring act, and their zone defense had the Hawks baffled time and time again, and the rebounding of Zeller and Johnson paid off as the Warriors led at the half 30 to 21. In Shark Conference ac tion against Hononegah Friday, the Skyhawks fell to a 59-55 defeat on the Indian court after sinking onlyr-38 percent of the field gfoals attempted. Hononegah scored on 52 percent of their shots. Johnsburg took 61 shots from the field, and Hononegah took only 46. It was very much the same story Saturday night as the host Skyhawks were defeated 61-48 by the Woodstock Blue Streaks. Johnsburg: 33 percent from the field on 57 shots, Woodstock: 51 percent from the field on 39 shots. It's tough to win when you cfiin't score.
