Feature McHenry Talent Open House Entertainment Calendar Opens Feb. 16 The 1980 entertainment calendar at the Woodstock Opera House opens Saturday evening, Feb. 16, with a performance by McHenry county entertainers, Sasha and Shirley, of McHenry in a musical revue entitled "Ah Yes! 1 Remember it Well." The 8 p.m. performance is sponsored by the Woodstock Fine Arts association and features music ranging from Balkan ballads to famous Broadway songs. Sasha Vereschagin is known throughout the Chicago area as both an e n t e r t a i n e r a n d restauranteur. Sasha's experience in his native Russia and his adult life in this country have provided him with a vast repertoire of gypsy songs and romatic ballads. Shirley Smith is best known to Woodstock Opera House audiences for her portrayal of Bloody Mary in the 1977 production of "South Pacific." Sasha and Shirley will be accompanied by five musicians in what Sasha has called "a dramatized browse through an album of memorabilia." Reserved seating is available by calling the Woodstock Opera House ticket office at 338-5300. Other events coming up at the Opera House include the Townsquare Players' March production of the comedy, "A Company of Wayward Saints"; the March 30 opening of the spring music series with violinist Elaine S k o r o d i n ; W o o d s t o c k Musical Theatre company's April production of the musical comedy, "L'il Abner"; and two concerts by jazz great George Shearing April 27. PACK 162f^ Cub Scout Pack 162 held its exciting annual Pinewood derby last Thursday, Jan. 24, at the American Legion hall. Cub scouts from each den competed against each other and trophies were awarded to the first, second, third and fourth place winners of each den. Excitement mounted as all first place winners competed for the Grand Champion trophys.. Pack 162 welcomes Tom Gay lord. He was sworn in by Cubmaster John Grant as his proud parents and fellow scouts looked on. Achievement awards were presented to Marc Johnson, silver arrow; Brian Kreutzer, wolf patch; John Meisner, wolf patch, gold arrow, silver arrow; Sean Shoopman, scientist; Rob Dorazil, engineer, forester, scientist; Richard Argy, naturalist,, outdoorsmen, scholar and scientist; and Brendon Rayn, forester, naturalist. Edward D'Sousa received scientist and has now graudated into the Boy Scouts. The meeting ended with refreshments. Recently Den Mother Mrs. Einweck and the Scouts from Den 7 were given a tour of a local restaurant here in McHenry. On their guided tour the scouts were shown all levels ofy restaurant management.
