That's why McHenry County college automotive instructor Richard Hranac was excited when he found out that an MCC student had passed all eight certification tests during a recent testing session. The student, Francisco P. Terrones, of Crystal Lake, is only the second student in the college's 11-year history to pass all eight tests on the first try. "Our average student passes four out of the eight," Hranac explained. Terrones, who works in vehicle maintenance for Commonwealth Edison is completing his studies at MCt during this Spring semester and will be a student at Northern Illinois university in DeKalb this fall. "It is a very difficult battery of tests," Hranac said, "and passing all eight on the first try is quite an accomplishment." NIASE certification is proof to employers and to a mechanics customer that the mechanic is knowledgeable in the area he is working in, Hranac explained. The eight tests that are offered by the NIASE in clude engine repair, automatic transmissions, standard transmissions and drive lines, heating and air- conditioning, automotive electrical circuits, brakes, front ends and alignments, and engine tuneup. Continue Film Series The fourth of five films is being shown at the Alliance church, 3815 Bull Valley road, McHenry, Saturday and Sunday evenings at 7 p.m., Feb. 9, and 10. This film is entitled, "The Basis for Human Dignity", and is part of the series known as "Whatever Happened to the .Human Race?". The films feature Dr. Francis A. Schaeffer, theologian, philospher and author who has spent 45 years studying Western man's development. C, Everett Koop, M.D., is also featured. He is surgeon-in- chief at Philadelphia's Children's hospital. He, too, has spent a lifetime studying the trends of man's view of man from a medical per spective. The films are very revealing. There has been a very fine attendance at each film showing. Afterward, Pastor Robertson of the Alliance church generally has a time of questions and answers from the audience. Pastor Robertson en courages every person, teenage and older, to see these films to learn what is going on today in society. They are very revealing and will cause many to think seriously about the present tii Health Agency Seeks 40 For Two Boards Forty positions on the Health Systems agency's board of directors and sub- area advisory boards will be filled in Spring elections. Interested persons who are knowledgeable about the health concerns of Kane, Lake and McHenry county residents are invited to request an application form from the HSA-KLM office by calling 312-639-0061. Consumer applicants (people who do not engage in the provision of health care) should be residents of Kane, Lake or McHenry counties. Health care provider ap plicants may either be residents or have their principal place of business in the area. Applications should be returned as soon as possible and must be received at the HSA office or post marked no later than Feb. 22,1980. HSA-KLM's priority ob jectives for the year ahead include an area-wide wellness pilot project; improving access for the physically disabled in Aurora, Elgin and Waukegan; reducing high rates of infant mortality and low birthweight babies; increasing the number of KLM residents enrolled in h e a l t h m a i n t e n a n c e organizations (HMOs); and preparing consumer guides on the health care service options available to older adults. LOT OF BULL The lion sprang upon the bull and devoured him. After he had feasted, he felt so good that he roared and roared. The noise attracted hunters and they killed him. The moral of the tale is that when you are full of bull, you should keep your mouth shut. The McHenry Plaindealer (USPS 335 300) Established IS7S 3««? West Elm St,...
