FEBRUARY 8.I980_ Ringwood News 385-8037 653-9262 728-0343 Club Celebrates 40th Anniversary It was just forty years ago, on Feb. 2,1940, that Paul and Althea Walkington en­ tertained six couples for an evehing of cards, "500". This group getting together for a social evening was an outgrowth of the Ringwood Rural Youth club. Last Saturday evening, Feb. 2, the Walkingtons again entertained the "500" card club in their home. Nine of the original twelve were in attendance, as well as newer members who have replaced those who moved away, or were unable to continue. Walt and Aliise Mae Wilcox of Woodstock co-hosted the dinner and evening with the Walkingtons. The original members attending were Darrel and Arlene Benoy of Woodstock, Bob and Blanche Howe of Richmond, Glen and Dorothy Benoy of Hebron and Dan Rawson of Har­ vard. Dan's wife, Ruth, was unable to attend as she was in Michigan at the time. The newer members in attendance were Mike and Florence Kane of Mequon, Wis., Harold and Helen Stanek of Whitewater, Wis., Dtifra and Ted Koaistra of Sharon, Wis., Gladys and Alan Ainger of Hebron, Helen and Lou Winn of Rich­ mond and the Wilcoxs. It was a most enjoyable evening of cards and visiting. CHURCH WOMEN UNITED Mary Butler and Alice Peet attended the meeting of C.W.U. at Crystal Lake, representing ladies of the Ringwood church. TUBING PARTY Members and friends of the Greenwood-Ringwood United Methodist Youth recently enjoyed a fun evening of "tubing" at Wilmot. Yes, they sit or lie down on big inflated inner tubes and go down a slide of snow and ice. From all reports, it sounded like an , exciting evening with a few bumps and bruises. After the sliding, they adjourned to a fast-food restaurant for refreshments. UNITED METHODIST WOMEN Ladies of the Ringwood church will meet at the parsonage Thursday, Feb. 14, at 12:30 p.m. for "coffee and". They will then travel to Hartland to visit the residents of Valley Hi Nursing home. VISITORS Gary, Diane and David Linstad of Black Creek, Wis., were visitors at the Art Christophers last weekend. Dave Christopher was also home. He will be taking a job at Farmington, 111. (near Peoria) later this month so it was a chance for everyone, including Patty, to get together for a visit before he makes the move!
