tWlStS 20 PLAINDKA1 KH - FRIDAY. FKBRI'AKY H. 1080 McHenry Highlights FACTS FROM McHENRY COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL in January, 1979,, Schilling participated in a three- month internship program with the Dallas Light Opera. During this time he per formed, directed, and choreographed the Dallas productions. After his internship, Schilling went into free lance commercial work, lie was an actor in many local Dallas T.V. commercials and if you watch closely you can see him in 7-Up and Desendex commercials. This fall, Schilling joined the high school staff as a speech teacher at both campuses. He is also the co- sponsor of Drama club and is the sponsor of the Speech team. During his spare time he enjoys art work, especially silk screening and is working on an advanced degree in the fine arts. In the near future he will also be directing commercials for Ihe Creative Communication group. Schilling brings an ex citing background to McHenry high school and is a welcomed addition to our staff. An educated man can argue without losing his temper and without re sorting to abusive lan guage. Painter Displays Work The year's exhibition series at the Woodstock Opera House begins Feb. 9 with the work of Cary painter, Peter Schoelch. A collection of twenty-five representational oil pain tings will, be on display through March 1. Trained in Germany, Schoelch also worked there as a medical artist and taught at the Marfels School of Fine Arts. Having moved to the United States in 1956, Schoelch began to re establish himself as a professional painter by teaching at galleries in Barrington and Algonquin. He now maintains his own gallery and studio in Cary. The subjects of Schoelch's paintings refect his ex tensive travel throughout Europe and Asia, con centrating on landscapes, seascapes, portraitures and cityscapes. , Says Schoelch 6f his work, "My painting style is realistic without an overemphasis on details. I try to capture the impression of A moment without overemphasis on details. And if I have said everything I intended in a painting, it is finished, and wiH then speak forjtself." \ The exhibition is free to the public, and is open Tuesday through Saturday, noon until 5:30 p.m., and during all performances and events. Future exhibitions^include the work of ceramiclst R.B. McCallister and painter Ossie Rometo in March, and the photography of Craig Schreiner in April. Further information about the exhibition series may be obtained by calling the Woodstock Opera House. ft***1' THOM SCHILLING This week we are highlighting a new member to our staff, Thom Schilling, as someone you should know at McHenry high school.
