New Flag For School Warriors At Crystal Lake South Gym Tonight PAGE 7 - PLAINDEALER - FRIDAY, FEBRUARY S. 1M WHAT S NEW Both the Warriors of McHenry and the Gators of Crystal Lake South will be looking to get back on the winning track tonight in the Fox Valley. The Gators were upset by cross town rival Central last Friday 59 to 53 and the Warriors lost to Crown 80 to 79. The loss by the Tigers knocked the Gattffs into second place in „the con ference, and"that didn't set too well with Coach Gary Collins. The Warriors and Ken Ludwig have a score to settle with Collins and his Gators. They have never defeated the Gators in the three previous meeings, losing last December by a score of 64 to 59. The Warriors at the present are playing their best basketball of the season, They have done a super job the past two weeks, and are anxious for a win over the Collin's crew! The bigger, more physical Gator squad are led by 6'6" Dean Anderson, who can muscle ,his way wioi the best. However, the vast improvement of Warrior center Jim Johnson the past weeks should balance off the center position. If the Warriors can stay out of foul trouble, it should be quite a game. Next Tuesday the Warriors travel to Dundee to take on the lead leaders. The Cards walloped the Warriors in overtime earlier this season, and the Warriors are bent on a little revenge. It is a surprise t<f many that the Cards are on top. Outside of the conference they are barely a five hundred ball club. However, Paul Judson is getting the best of what he has, and they keep on win ning the squeakers, and it all looks good in the win column. With a pair of victories in the next two games, the Warriors could find themselves at the top looking down on the other teams. It could happen. • You can produce a'two- toned. wood-grain effect on any paintable surface with a single coat, ciaims its . maker It needs no mixing or thinning: just smooth on dripless. gel finish in direc tion you want grain to ap: pear A protective coat of clear polyurethane varnish is recommended on heavjiy'- used surfaces. Assure No Delay In Tax Refund Delivery A proud Christopher Novak displays his flag design with the help of Sister Patricia, principal of the Montini Primary center as Christopher's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Novak, look on. The design will provide the school with its first flag. Prior to the opening of Catholic Schools week, parents and students participated in competition to design a flag to be used and displayed during this special week. The colors and the emblem are symbolic in meaning. The gold represents the riches acquired through Catholic school education, while the white indicates purity in honor of the mother of God and her example to motherhood. The shield denotes a defense against ignorance and evil. The crown is representative of Jesus Christ's suffering for the salvation of mankind. The Catholic family is symbolized by the two rings, and the book typifies learning in every aspect. The large "M" stands for Giovanni Montini, Pope Paul VI, for whom Montini Catholic school was named. The union of St. Mary and St. Patrick's schools is characterized by the interlocking "PM". Small wonder. Each year these checks, which should average more than $500 in 1980, go out to four out of five taxpayers across the nation. Unfortunately, in their haste to mail in their tax forms, the Internal Revenue Service says, millions of taxpayers make careless errors that cause needless delay in the processing of tax returns and the subsequent issuance of refund checks. To help prevent these annoying delays, the IRS urges taxpayers to allow for a "cooling off" period before dropping returns in the mail. Set the return aside for a few hours or a day, then go back and check the following items: ..Have I attached all my supporting schedules to my Form 1040? ..Is the arithmetic correct? ..Are my W-2 forms from all my jobs attached? ..Did I use the correct tax table, and did I follow the line across to the correct figure? ..Did I check a box for the 1980 Presidential Election Campaign fund? ..Is it signed and dated (by both spouses, if a joint return)? ..Is the Social Security number correct on my peel- off label? ..Is there a stamp on the pre-addressed, coded en velope? ..Did I make a copy of the return for my own records? A few minutes double- checking these simple items can prevent a delay of weeks in the processing of a tax return. ALEXANDER LUMBER CO.
