A wedding date has been set for May 3 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, in McHenry. . , Surprised On 50th Birthday- Mrs. Carl N. (Dorothy) Weber was surprised by family members at a local restaurant last Saturday on the occasion of her 80th birthday. Present to offer best wishes were Jean, Kathy, Peggy and Eileen Saelens and Diane VanHorn of St. Charles; Betty and Diana O'Shea of Grayslake; Norma and Anne Knox of Crystal Lake; Maureen Koeppen of Lake Zurich and Sheila Aleckson, Pender Weber, Helen Conway, Mary Ann Knox, Diane Stanek, Julia, Joan and Ann Huska, Eileen Mauer, Sue Palmer, Sandy Neumann, Jean Neumann and Genevieve Knox of McHenry. Mrs. Weber, is well known for her many contributions to entertainment in the arta as a pianist. She has been organist at St. Patrick's Catholic church for almost 50 years. Parents Hold Annual Fair The Montini Parents association will sponsor the second annual Fun Fair, Saturday, Feb. 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Middle school gym. A wide assortment of games, such asFrisbie Toss, Rack a Hat, Patch Game, Cake Walk and Tire Ball will be offered for everyone feeling lucky to play. Face painting will also be available. The public is invited to stop by for a fun-filled Saturday afternoon! Seniors Slate Guest Speaker A guest speaker. Bob Rankin, is slated to appear at the next regular meeting of the Wonder Lake Senior Citizens. He will show a movie from the McHenry Senior Citizens Council in Woodstock and refresh­ ments will be served. The meeting is scheduled Monday, Feb. 18. at 1 p.m. in the Nativity Lutheran church. Blood pressure screening will take place prior to the meeting from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tasks for children can be made into a game by setting the kitchen tinier. Hard candy or gum can be the prize if they beat the clock. DENNIS BECKER AND THERESA KEMP JUNE WEDDING - Mr. and Mrs. Deibert Deatherage, 1417 S. College, Dixon, announce the engagement of their daughter, Theresa Kemp, to Dennis, Becker, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Becker, 5211 W. Hunter drive, McHenry. The bride elect is a 1976 graduate of Dixon high school and presently attends St Paul Bible college. The prospective groom graduated from McHenry Community high school in 1973 and from St. Paul Bible college in 1978. The couple will be married June 14 at the Community Alliance church. Chairman Is Welcomed At the January McHenry County Homemakers Ex­ tension Board meeting. Joy Papen was welcomed to fill the term of Family Living chairman. Final touches were added to Homemakers Extension Association week Feb. 24 through Mar. 1. It will kick off with booths in the Crystal Lake mall for questions and answers on Homemakers. along with a bazaar and demonstrations Feb. 23 and 24. Dolores Serewicz an­ nounced that the girls would be able to learn a few skills during February due to the exciting programs planned. The first one scheduled, to be held in the Extension office, was a yeast bread special. To put everyone on the dance floor, a disco dancing lesson will be offered Feb. 26 at the Farm Bureau at 7:30 p.m.. given by Kathy Callahon. There will be a nominal fee per person. To acquire clothing with a perfect fit, Kathi Heberer will conduct a 3-day pattern alteration class in March. It was decided in executive session at the Feb. 7 meeting that the next meeting to be held Feb. 21 at the home of Pam Doherty will be a rush meeting to introduce Beta Sigma Phi sorority to prospective new members. Judy DeWulf will present a short history of Beta Sigma Phi to attending guests. The topic of the cultural program for the evening will be "Personal Beauty". A cosmetics demonstration will be presented. About 100 guests enjoyed dining, dancing and the crowning ceremony at the Valentine Queens' dance held at the Crystal Lake Legion home last weekend. Plans were completed by Xi Kappa Iota chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority when members met at the home of Mrs. Tom Stasiak of McHenry. Mrs. Tim (Lorene) Fan- was Xi Kappa Iota's chosen honoree. She was crowned by the former queen, Mrs. Frank (Karen) Colomor. Doreen Dietz, Crystal Lake, and Dorothy Haddick, McHenry , announced the coronations. A .party night was held at the home of Aleta and Tom Gemmel l in January . Members honored their husbands as guests of the social event. Plans are under way for the annual Easter jelly bean sale, proceeds of which will go to the National A.L.S. foundation (Lou Gehrig's disease). Mrs. Joel Bolka, exemplar member transferee from Fergus Falls, Minn, was guest of the evening. The cultural program was given by Karen Colomer on "Window Treatments" from the study program book, "The Home We make". Visual aids and discussions concluded the program.
