/ McCullom Lake Mary Jo Farrell 344-1575 Anniversary Celebration In April of this year (coming up right around the corner) our village will be celebrating twenty-five years of incorporation. A huge silver anniversary celebration is being sched uled f6r Saturday, Aug. 16. The event will be an all day affair, with food and drink, activities, games, and a lot of fun. The village is looking for past board members, former Little Miss McCullom Lake winners and even runners- up If you are one of these special folks, or know of their whereabouts, please contact Mrs. Kurt (Jeanne) Weisenberger. A meeting was held Wednesday, Feb. 20, and several villagers interested in this project attended. Ideas were thrown around, and the people in attendance were asked to give their thoughts on what we could do to really commemorate this event. From now on. there will be meetings the third Wed nesday of every month until July. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the beach house. People are needed to help out with all facets of the party, especially men, women and children willing to work and give some time, (any amount) to this big event. Plan now on attending March 19 meeting. ^thej CONGRATULATIONS We have a celebrity in our midst! John Reiter, son of Rich and Barb Reiter of Knollwood, was announced recently as a runner-up in the county-wide 4-6 grade McHenry County Nutrition Poster contest. John's poster will fete displayed in Springfield during National Nutrition Month. Nicely done, John, we're really proud of you! IN MEMORIAM We have learned of the death of Mrs. Bertha Hejkal, formerly of Fountain lane. Mrs Hejkal passed away Feb 6 in Stickney, at the home of a relative with whom she was living. Many villagers knew Mrs. Hejkal, and she will be missed. COMING UP May is usually the time of the Beach Gals' annual plant and bake sale, and this year there is going to be something a little different. The Beach Gals will be hosting a flea market, to be held Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Table space is available for a nominal fee, and may be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis by calling 344-3864, or 385-2057. The deadline for reserving table space is April 7, so call right now! Get out all your treasures, and make up some extras of those lovely little things you whip up in ceramics, or sewing or whatever, and get rid of them while having a good time with friends and neighbors. The Beach Gals will still hold the bake sale, and there will be coffee available. Proceeds from this event, as all Beach Gals events, go to sponsor activities for the children of the village, and also to make life more pleasant for the village. Ask Program Needs For Criminal Justice The Lake-McHenry Law Enforcement Planning commission is interested in receiving suggestions from private and-or not-for-profit juvenile justice agencies for program areas for their criminal justice planning. Program areas for FY 1980 hive already been developed; however, due to new federal legislation, the LM-LEPC is required to submit a comprehensive plan for the three years following 1980. At this time the LM-LEPC is requesting that any agency concerned with juvenile justice and-or services to juvenile of fenders submit their suggestions for program areas for any need they anticipate in the next three years. These suggestions should be in the form of a written statement of no more than one half typed page and should include a brief description of the need and a justification for inclusion of this program area. Further information can be obtained by contacting the LM-LEPC at 18 N. County Room 602, Waukegan, 111. 60085.
