Schedule Potluck Suppers When the Lakeland Park Women's club met for their February meeting, it was decided to have a potluck supper every other month. Therefore, starting March 13. a potluck supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7:30 p.m. Anyone who cannot attend the dinner is urged to come to the meeting. A good portion of the meeting was devoted to the annual Spring Luncheon and Card Party to be held Wednesday. April 23, at St. Patrick's church halir with serving to begin at 11:30 a.m. Tickets for this event were distributed and can be secured from the members or by contacting ticket chairman, Mrs. Wm. J. (Lyda) Radisch, McHenry. The Board of Directors of the Lakeland Park Property Owners association are planning a gala 25th An­ niversary celebration which will be held Saturday. Speaker Advocates Nutrition Program Sara Sloan, director of Food and nutrition for the Fulton county schools, Atlanta, Ga., last week presented a program "The Nutra System" to parents, teachers, and food service personnel of McHenry county. The presentation was sponsored by the McHenry County Network for Nutrition Education. Ms. Sloan, designer of the "Nutra System" advocated a lunch program which eleminates sugar, artificial coloring, additives, preservatives and is low in fat and salt. Crystal Lake District 47 is presently- implementing this program. The linkage between learning and nutrition was discussed, as she stressed the importance of helping children to accept changes in their diets and to include more 'healty foods'. Girl Scouts Sponsj&r Spring Fashion Show Everyone is invited to' attend the Girl Scout Mother and Daughter fashion show to be held at St. Patrick's Catholic church Friday. Feb. 29. at 7 p.m. Lovely spring fashions will be modeled by some of the Girl Scouts and mothers as they parade among tables decorated with flower centerpieces created by Brownies. Delicious home-baked treats will be served to round out an enjoyable evening Tickets will be available at the door. O.E.S. Slates Annual Dinner The public is invited to the annual Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner to be held Saturday, March 15. This event sponsored by the Richmond Chapter No. 267. Order of Eastern Star will be served from 3 to 7 p.m. It is family style with homemade pies for dessert. The place is the Masonic Temple at 5613 Broadway street, Richmond, 111. WORLD DAY OF PRAYER St. John the Baptist Catholic church, Johnsburg, will be the host church for the World Day of Prayer, Friday, March 7. Set Parents' Course Mrs. Fran Scholpp. R.N., obstetrical department supervisor at Memorial hospital for McHenry county at Woodstock, announced the next "Preparation for Parenthood" ' free in­ structional course, a two evening session, to begin at 8 p.m. Monday. March 3 The informational program will be held in the hospital dining room March 3 and 10 as a free community service program of Memorial hospital. Both prospective parents have attended these sessions in the past and are invited and encouraged to do so Mrs. Scholpp w ill take part in the program, which in eludes a tour of the hospital's maternity department, movies and talks. Speak To BPW Women Circus Fest Planned Sunday, March 2, at Prairie Grove school, the Prairie Grove Activities club will present their Circus Fest Smorgasbord with all the charm and fun of a circus. A lovely home-cooked meal-all you can eat-and all the thrills of the circus, balloons, clowns and much more will be featured at the school, located at 3223 Route 176, one mile East of Route 31. The student Art Fair will also be held in conjunction with the smorgasbord. Entries win be on display throughout the school and will be judged by school personnel. The artists have prepared their entries to. coordinate with the circus theme and it promises to be a lively and colorful display. Tickets will be on sale at the door; advance tickets, and tickets for senior citizens and children ages 3- 10 years will be a lower price. Children under 3 years will be admitted free. Salon Adds Program A new program, 'Pennies That Count', was added at the recent meeting of the McHenry County Salon No. 483 Eight et Forty, at the home of Esther Ballard in Woodstock. This is the 25th an­ niversary of the American Legion's Child Welfare Foundation and to help them, each partner was asked to give twenty-five cents to be sent as an an­ niversary gift. Esther Ballard, Ways and Means chairman, expressed a desire to make this 100 percent in partnership. After the opening ceremonies, by La Petit Chapeau Pearl Cooper, standing reports were given. The Spring Pouvior was discussed and May Cesak, Becky Gabel and Christine Nixon will attend. Florence Kennedy of Harvard. Chairman of Children and Youth, reported that checks will be sent to Cystic Fibrosis and the DuPage McHenry Lung association when she attendis the Pouvior. She also reminded the members that there is still time to donate stuffed toys. Activities Discussed The U.M.W. Mission Team Executive committee had a number of important matters to discuss at their February meeting, several of which were held over for continued discussion at the foarch meeting. Future activities were reviewed and Circle chairmen will keep their Circles informed. The Lenten potluck sup­ pers on Sunday evenings was discussed and the results will be relayed to the Circles at the U.M.W. general meeting in March. It was noted that President Marilyn Haines will need volunteers to help reorganize and arrange the kitchen cabinets when the construction work is com­ pleted. The next U.M.W. Mission Team meeting will be Monday, March 3 at 9 a.m. in the church parlor. Luncheon Scheduled By Hadassah Members Jewish cooking prepared by Elgin Hadassah members will be featured at a "Taste & Tell" luncheon. She made a presentation on her career of Hematology, which she will present at the BPW Spring District VI meeting at the Hoffman House, Ramada Inn, in Rockford March 9. The McHenry BPW and the League of Women Voters are sponsoring a "Can­ didates Nite" - Primary 80", for all candidates running for election to the 33rd legislative district, March 4, 7:30 p.m. at the Branded Steak House, Crystal Lake.
