Oo Thursday night they defeated Dundee by the score of 66 to 57. Trailing 18 to 8 at the end of the first period, the Warriors struck with lightning speed in the second period. With Sue Hutchinson beginning to find the range along with Terri Bohlman. the Warriors overtook the Cards and went into the intermission with a five point lead. 32 to 27. Vicky Kopsell joined duo of Hutchinson and Bohlman in the third period grabbing off numerous rebounds and the Warriors outscored the Cards 18 to 9 to lead 50 to 36. The final period saw the Cards trying to overcome the deficit, but to no avail and the Warriors won 66 to 57. Sue Hutchinson had 26 pts. to lead all scorers and Terri Bohlman picked up 20 DEFEATSTREAKS On Saturday afternoon. the Warriors again had to overcome a first period 21 to 13 deficit to defeat the Woodstock Blue Streaks. The second period was all Warriors as they overcame the Woodstock lead with a 16 to 4 advantage to lead at the half 29 to 25. The final half s§w the Warriors play their best of the season, and they won in easy fashion 64 to 56. Sue Hutchinson had another good day from the field scoring 25 pts. Vicky Kopsell had 15, and Terri Bohlman had 14. The win left the Warriors 5 and 7 in the conference, and 11 and 8 on the season. Horses had to be sharp-shod as cutters glided over the ice. Seems to me that Marty Knox owned a racer. So did Math Freund, prominent farm machinery dealer on Pearl Street. Young people would skate up to Johnsburg and return for a weenie roast on the banks of Fox River. The Ben Stilling girls were strong skaters. So was Margaret Stenger. In grade school days, most families owned only one pair of skates which were strapped onto the shoes. Sometimes you had to share the pair and try to manipulate on only one skate. --And we call those the good old days. People have started to look for the first robin of the spring. Those feathered friends should be warned that March is coming, a month that can hit you right over the ear. Mrs. Joe J. Miller of Waukegan Street says we stole some of her birds. She was afraid if you shook the floor the cake would fall before it cooled. There is good news tonight! Winning a gold medal, the U.S. hockey team has brought much celebrating by Olympic followers. When you think of the young hockey players assembled in a short period of time, you must think somebody up there loves them. Youth, determination and fire was evident in all the games. Local Roller Skaters Earn Medals In Three-Day Tests The McHenry Skating club recently held a three day proficiency testing of members and other lesson skaters at the local roller rink in McHenry. Proficiency tests are designed by the Roller Skating Rink Operators association and used to judgt • person's ad­ vancement in a field of skat ii«f: . Tests may be taken in the areas of general skating, dance, figures, freestyle and speed. Certified judges from northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin were used.
