Deaths LOUIS HOPPER Louis Hopper,- 74, of 909 Melrose cqurt, McHenry, died Sunday, March 9 in McHenry hospital. He was born June 30, 1905, in Iron Mt., Mich, to Braden and Esther (Honeysett) Hopper. Mr. Hopper was a resident of this area the past seven years, formerly of Forest Park, 111. He was a brick layer and worked over 30 years with M. L. Ensminger company of Forest Park. He is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Hopper and Mrs. Edward (Lorraine) Stehle, Parma, Ohio; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Gwendolyn McShane, McHenry; Mrs. Viola Sackerson, Appleton, Wis.; Mrs. Winifred Jacobson, Iron Mt. Mich, and Mrs. Marjorie Corchran, Duluth, Minn. His wife, Mildred died April 22,1977, and a brother, Braden Hopper, also preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, 10 a.m. at the George R. J us ten & Son funeral home, with interment in Oak Ridge cemetery, Hillside. Visitation was scheduled from 3. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials will be ap­ preciated to the American Lung Society. MAUDE A. HOFFMAN A longtime resident of McHenry and Harvard, Maude A. Hoffman, passed away Saturday, March 8. She was 79, bom Jan. 13, 1901, in New Brunswick, Canada to Alexander and Ann (Hart) Archibald. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Nolan, McHenry; Mrs. Anthony (Allison) Visconti, Syracuse, N. Y.; Mrs. Norman (Norma) Hinman, McHenry and Mrs. Rudy (Jane) Kuper, Park Ridge; one son, Norman Dobbins, Buffalo Grove; fourteen grand­ children and four great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. N. W. Miller, Ed­ monton New Brunswick, Canada also survives. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Nor­ man Dobbins, in 1941, her second husband, Leonard Hoffman, in 1957 and a daughter, Mrs. Rita Rogers, Los Angeles, Cal., in 1964. No visitation was scheduled at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home. There will be a memorial service March 16, at 3 p.m., at the Valley High Nursing home, where she was a patient. Memorials may be made to the nursing home or the McHenry area Rescue Squad. MARIE ROBINSON Marie Robinson, 79, of Chestnut drive, Wonder Lake, died Friday afternoon, March 7, at Memorial hospital for McHenry county, Woodstock. She was born March 26, 1900, in Chicago, the daughter of Charles and Barbara (Roedell) Laibach. She married Hugh Robinson Dec. 18, 1917, in Chicago, Who passed away April 22, 1963. For the past ten years, she was president of the Young At Heart club in Wonder Lake, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Richmond. • Mrs. Robinson is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Rowen (Vilma) Duncan of Rich­ mond; two sons, Kenneth of Saugatuck, Mich, and Roy of Woodstock; also seven grandchildren and .four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brad and two brothers, Charles and Elmer. Funeral services were conducted Monday, 1 p.m. at Ehorn Adams funeral home, Richmond, with Reverend Glenn Mensing officiating and cremation followed. Memorials are requested in her name to the Richmond Rescue Squad or the Wonder Lake Rescue Squad. DWI Charges Follow Two Separate Car Collisions I can remember when you had to ask if a gas station could break a twenty, now they can fracture a fifty. Two McHenry area residents were cited by police for driving while intoxicated following two separate two-car collisions in the last week. Kent L. Krueger, of Woodstock, was driving east on Route 120 when an ap­ proaching vehicle made a left turn in f|ont of his auto. The driver of the oncoming car, Janet R. Hulsey, of 112 Sunnyside, McHenry, refused to make a statement and was ticketed for driving while intoxicated and failure to yield the right-of-way. Maynard J! Jacobson, of 4506 W. Lakeshore drive, Wonder Lake, was at­ tempting to make a right turn from Riverside onto Pearl street when his auto crossed the center line and struck another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was Kenneth P. Jensen, of Crystal Lake. Jacobson was ticketed for driving while intoxicated and improper lane usage. Driving south on Front street, David Pliner, of 3715 Maple, McHenry, drove into the intersection at Elm street when his car was struck by another auto. The driver of the other auto, Ethel M. Gregg, of 909 Wiltshire, McHenry, told police she believed the light to be amber when she en­ tered the intersection. Ms. Gregg was ticketed for disobeying a red light. „ John D. Honning, of 401 Mineral Springs, McHenry, was driving north on Walkup road near Crystal Lake, when he saw a car stopped with its left turn signal lighted. Honning told police he applied his brakes, which failed the first time, and locked his tires the second time he applied them. According to the police report, Honning swerved but could not avoid running into the rear of the other car. The driver of the other car was Marlys Janke, of Crystal Lake. Honning was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Richard L. Gasbrysiak, of 3307 E. Lake Shore drive, Wonder Lake, told police he did not sfee the other car as he attempted to make a left turn. The driver of the other car, Patricia Morreale, of Cary, said Gasbrysiak did not signal the turn and that her car was struck as it a proceeded into the in­ tersection. Gabrysijak was cited for making an improper left turn aF an intersection. Charles E. Schaefer, of 3022 W. Scott, McHenry, told Sheriff's police his Car was parked partially on the shoulder of Route 31 when it was struck by another vehicle. The driver of the other Vehicle, Valerie J. Meyer, of 2105 Johnsburg road, McHenry, said she could not see the vehicle. Schaefer was ticketed for not having lights on when required. At the intersection of Route 120 and Lily Lake road, Nick R. Lively, of 2608 S. Forestwood, McHenry, told police he was stopped, attempting a left turn, when his car was struck in the rear. The driver of the other auto, Thomas J. Terry, of Round Lake Heights, said he could not stop in time. Darlene J. Johnson, of 2809 Magellan, McHenry, was rounding a curve on Regner road when her car slid into another vehicle. The police report noted that the road was "very slick". The driver Of the other vehicle was Delwin G. Krause, of Woodstock. Paul M. Krause, of 4316 W. Shore drive, McHenry, was attempting to make a left turn from River road onto Burnett when another car pulled out from the in­ tersection. Krause told police he swerved to avoid a collision but lost control of the car, which hit a utility pole. Lee H. Lexow, 3207 W. Terrace, McHenry, said he was driving north on Cold Springs road when the car ran off the road and struck a tree. According to a witness, a car, driven by Angela M. Balchunas, of 2102 Riverside drive, McHenry, ran off River road, hit a Com­ monwealth Edison pole and rolled. Ms. Balchunas was not injured and could not recall how the accident happened.
