We hope that many homeowners will soon begin to take advantage of the lower costs offered by our most plentiful (and often overlooked) source of energy - ground water. Ground water has been colled "nature's most efficient solar collector." In addition to the advan- tage of high specific heat, ground water's temperature doesn't vary with seasons: it is warmer than qir in the winter, and cooler than air in the summer. Ground water's heat output is also constant year-round. It oc­ curs at temperatures from 40° to 75°F throughout most of the continental U.S., making it ideally suited to operate a heat pump system. A ground water heat pump system also operates on cycles, but it heats air to only 95°-105°F, approximately 40° cooler than most conventional systems.
