Nicholas Troka, 23, of 3213 Waterview, McHenry, and Daniel I,owry, 22, of 1816 Fernwood, McHenry, were both charged with theft under $150. Bpnd was set at $1,000 each.,. McHenry police are in­ vestigating an armed rob­ bery at the Union 76 station at the intersection of Meadow and Route 120, in McHenry. A man, wearing a multi­ colored jacket, threatened the station attendant with a gun and fled oh foot with approximately $350. Robert Schooley, of 5023 Barnard Mill road, McHenry, reported that someone slipped the lock on the front door of the residence last Saturday night and stole a stereo unit, tape player and two speakers! Bernice Kreutzer, of 1111 W. May, McHenry, called $he police when she found that someone had stolen two LP gas tanks and a regulator from a camper trailer parked at the home. One tank and the regulator were found later. At about 9:30 a.m. March 12, Michael F. In Wonder Lake, a two-car collision occurred when one auto, sliding on loose gravel at the intersection of Osage and Algonquin roads, collided with another car. Scott E. Zimmerman, of 7423 Maple, Wonder Lake, told police he was west bound on Algonquin and saw a car at the intersection but was unable to stop in time. The driver of the other auto was Kazimierz Oleszczuk, of 7013 Seminole, Wonder Lake.. On February 15, a com­ memorative honoring Ben­ jamin Banneker, an astron­ omer and mathematician, will be issued in Annapolis, Maryland. The stamp will be the third in the series recogniz­ ing contributions by Black Americans toward the devel­ opment of the United States. Banneker, born 1731 near Baltimore, constructed a striking wooden clock at the age of 22, and in later years computed almanacs. He also assisted in laying out the 10-mile square area which became the Federal Capital. The first stamp in the Black Heritage series hon­ ored abolitionist Harriet Tubman, the famed con­ ductor of the Underground Railroad. The Tubman stamp, issued February 1, 1978, also marked the first time that a Black woman had appeared on a U.S. stamp. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was the second honoree. A commemorative, paying tribute to this distinguished civil rights leader, became available nationwide oh January 15. 1979. the 50th anniversary of his birth. .
