According to specialists pork and poultry will be even more plentiful this year than last and will continue to be among 4he best buys at the meat counter. Beef is expected to be ade quate -- enough to meet nor mal needs -- although down substantially from levels of re cent years. Production is ex pected to average 8 to 10 per cent below year-earlier levels. M d f e e g g s o n i H e m a r k e t will be also pushing down egg prices, say economists with the U.S. Department of Agricul ture. Now for the bad news Expect to pay about 11 per cent more for food in general this year. That doesn't take into account such things as freezes, droughts or strikes which would all add to infla tion. Most of the increase is ex pected to be, caused by rising costs for transportation, labor and marketing. The highest price hikes are expected for cereals, bakery goods, canned and frozen produce and other processed foods.
