Lakemoor-Lilymoor Area Margaret Karas 385-4934 Set Road Work Star Mitchell, president of the Lilymoor association, in the newsletter delivered this week, tells of the road work in the -subdivision. Some of the more dangerous potholes are being filled, so there will be noise resulting from" repair work. At the next meeting, scheduled for May 5, street captains will be appointed to keep the association aware of the problems on each street. Co-treasurers Phyllis Grossman and Laura Meyer ask that dues be paid promptly so repairs can continue. A house divided cannot survive, so join in the effort to improve the roads, or your community may literally be divided by the huge holes in the streets. CONSERVATION CLUB Plans for an ongoing recycling sale to benefit the Lily Lake Conservation club, are being formulated by Louise Hipwell, vice- president of the club. Space and storage is being supplied by Peggy and Bill Hen- dricksen of the Bungalow on Route 120 in Lilymoor. Items for the Saturday and Sunday sales are being accepted at 218 S. Lily Lake road, or call 3854)317 for information. The Lily Lake Quilt project is reaching the point of the actual quilting. The squares, done by area residents, have been stitched together by craftsman Louise. The date for the quilting bee will be an nounced soon. Hie local chain grocery, (a gem of a store), has agreed to share profits received from purchases made on May 26, 27, and 28, in the name of the L.L.C.C.I. Shirley Hayes has in formation on this project, 385-8526. ' APRIL 21 IS ....a day that young Michael Kunz will always remember as the day their car got smashed. It hap pened Monday evening. Mother Anita, with Michael and Heidi, had gone to pick up daddy at work. All went well until the return trip, when Albert, turning onto River road from Rt. 176, did not see an on coming car. Anita's warning was half verbalized, when the car got it. Michael's jaw connected with the door rest, Heidi had a bruised elbow, Anita had a colorful thigh and knee and scratches, and Albert broke the dashboard. All were wearing seat belts, so thank fully, the injuries were not serious. Albert's pride is still a bit bent, but many of us can empathize with him. Michael and Heidi will also remember the ride in the ambulance, with the wail of the siren ringing in their ears. All the Kunz family will remember the in convenience of having no transportation,- and the kindness of friends and fellow workers. OKLAHOMA, O.K.! The Drama club of the McHenry high schools can take credit for a well done production, giving great pleasure and joy to many of us for five performances. Our local people who helped make the musical such a success were Julie Cassell as a member of the chorus, Carrie Miles, trumpet player in the band, and Trish Goebel in the Tech crew. The long hours of work, real sweat and tears, were enjoyed on Saturday evening by Norm and Pat Morrison, Geri Smith, former member of the McHenry Nunda Library Board of Trustees, and mother of "aunt Eller", myself and friend Laura Phannenstill. Programs of this type may be in jeopardy without proper funding. Any student who has ever participated in the so-called "extra curricular" activities, knows the tremendous importance of being exposed to artistic experiences which open doors to a more ex- tij&ng and fulfilled life. BLOOD PRESSURE TIME Apologies to all the per sons who waited ' at the PragMHrt, Call 0»HCi OWN * To I« A M ANOMOM ' fotPMMOMrtttuFM t • 1 !• Lakemoor Municipal building Monday, April*, 21, for blood ' pressure screening. Lack of direct communication was the cause of the problem. Vickie Behan, who is no longer Ms. Behan, was on her honeymoon. Maggie Dunnagan, who usually fills in for Vickie, now attends classes on Mondays, and no other replacement was arranged for. Wouldn't you know that the April turnout was the largest ever? The regular third Monday of the month routine will be continued in May. And may the years ahead be a true blessing for our dedicated nurse, Vickie. HONORS Sundae Morrison achieved the highest grade point average possible, 4.0, for the third quarter Honor Roll of the McHenry Community high school. A 3.5 average also gave Tricia Goebel and Linda Martin a place on the Honor Roll. Congratulations to these seniors, and keep up the good Work. STREET SIGNS An ambulance came down Lily Lake road one day last week, with the driver looking for East boulevard. No street signs. He asked young Robert Gurske where the street was, and fortunately Robert could direct him. Are not street signs on township roads the responsibility of the town ship? Ambulance drivers, firemen, and police all need to know where the streets are, especially when minutes can mean the dif ference between life and death. The McHenry Township Supervisor can be reached at 385-5605. FEELING BETTER Marion Leske is back home after a week's treatment at the Elmhurst hospital. She enjoyed the lovely morning a week ago Tuesday, working in her yard- Sharon O'Brien of Lakemoor is feeling better after a short stay in McHenry hospital, where she received good care. She is now back to the routine of working, after recuperating at home under husband David's supervision. RIGHT TO READ WEEK Although half of the week starting April 27, declared by Governor Thompson to be , dedicated to the thought of reading being a top priority, is already past, we can still participate in the com mitment. The theme 'Take a Book Break" is meant to make people aware of the opportunity of using any free time for the pleasure of reading. The ten minute book break you take today, may open pages of information, en joyment, new skills or memories for you tomorrow. The McHenry Nunda library on Lily Lake road is yours to use. 385-6303 is the number of the bookie lady. Take a book break! ADD A YEAR TIME Laura Meyer will be celebrating her birthday April 30. May Day finds Peggy Hendricksen forgetting her years, and Otto Witzke reaching his seventy-ninth. Helm Para's day is May 2. Albert F. Kunz, who has much to be thankful for, adds his year on May 3. May 4 is the day for Dan Victor; Richard Polinski, our favorite plumber, will celebrate his birthday May 6. Enjoy, and give thanks that another year has been added. The monies will be used by the Division of Dental Health to purchase fluoride feeding equipment for those schools throughout the state with private non- fluoridated water supplies.
