At the corner of Rt. 31 and McCullom Lake road, on the west side of the highway, is McHenry Lake Estates, occupying the former Freund farm. Near the same intersection, dn^what is known as the Gladstone property, is the Falcon proposed development. Annexation has taken place but there are no buildings. To the south, off Green street, is Brittany, locatc on the Bauer property, too, has been annexed but construction has tal place. Winding Creek, known an RDG development, is in much the same Situation, with annexation but no building. This is located south of West campus on Crystal Lake road. Even farther south, at the intersection with Bull Valley road, is Valleybrook, a proposal which has evoked considerable planning and coversation, but has not yet reached the point of an nexation. To the north, within the mile and a half limit in which developers must advise the City of its plans, is Chapel Hill Oaks, Unit I, for which a proposal has been presented. As time marches on, the influx of new citizens to our once small community becomes a continuing ac tivity. No wonder there is a struggle in progress over land use! KAF OBSERVE EXTRA DUTY INEQUALITIES (Continued from page 1) in drawing specs and ac cepting bids for repair of the roof of the Central Ad ministration ' building on Main street used jointly by both districts. Hie presence "overhead". Hie architects for District 156 had made inspections and estimated that repairs could cost up ' to $16,775; Board member Gerry Bunting, recommended that the districts include provision for cost of replacing of, the roof sheathing in case some of it had been weather damaged so they wouldn't be surprised by hefty add-on costs by .the successful iman also won: ?red, in view of District 15's financial condition, if they* could use developers' donations for their share of the repair. Administrative buildings are not subject to repair under Life Safety Code provisions which . are paid for under a special tax levy, the board was advised. Hie board approved an agreement with SEDOM for the yearly rental of a classroom at Edgebrook for . $3,150 and for four SEDOM owned classrooms at Valley view school at $9,400. Action on a Youth Service bureau linkage agreement was deferred until a later meeting when the board attorney questioned the efficacy of a liability disclaimer which supposedly protected the school district against suits resulting from YSB activites. The attorney said this clause seemed more likely to limit the liability of the YSB staff and did not extend any protection to the district. He said he would like to see a "hold harmless" agreement for the district. The board instructed Dan DeRoche, assistant superintendent for in structional services, to continue to work with the YSB people as necessary while the board and staff explored the legal ramifications. The YSB, under the linkage agreement, provides short term counselling and crisis intervention to residents who s p u r g e o n s Reg. $11 to $45 Get set for summer!
