Crystal Lake Road McHenry, IL 385-0420 "We have had no quota, We have no quota now, nor will we have a quota in any phase of our law enforcement program, be it in the traffic or criminal areas, but we will enforce the law," In thinking of how to write i his article to convey the truth of the matter, several thoughts have come to mind that may help. The first thought I had was of the many minor violators that I have stopped and "passed" with a verbal warning. When this is done, the police officer can only hope that his decision was right, and that the violator will be better for the pass. Of course, we don't hear about these courtesies, or "passes", which brings me to the second thought that we are "d.-... if we do, and d.... if we don't." The people of McHenry deserve it. Enough said! I Summer is almost off icially here, and within the next few weeks, our school children will be on vacation, out playing with friends and walking and riding bikes around town again, enjoying the nice'weather. x It is our responsibility, as adults, to keep an extra sharp eye out for the children crossing the street, because sometimes in their haste, they forget to watch out for cars and trucks. \ Parents, teach your children that the place to play is off the roadway, and not in thev middle of the street. Teach them the proper place to cross the street, at the corner, and then, tinly after having checked both ways for any vehicles on the road. The street is also not the place to play sports, such as baseball or football. Save that for the many parks that the city has provided. Please watch for our children. See you next week. Set Science Lecture A common condition is the widespread human lpnging for what he terms "a refreshed sense of life", says Gordon R. Clarke of Milwaukee, in an upcoming Christian Science lecture. The challenge facing humanity, he feels, is the "need first to recognize the possibility of spiritural in spiration and then to know how to utilize it." The lecturer suggests that mankind can feel God's protection and love more and more as they strive to bring their lives into line with spiritual values - the healing influence of what Mr. Clarke terms "the language of Soul." The Clarke talk includes examples of physical healing through prayer. The lec turer, himself, has long been active in the healing ministry of the- Church of Christ, Scientist. Christian Science was founded on a basis of Christian healing. The lecture is free and open to the public. It will be held Saturday, May 17, at 8 p.m. at Crystal Lake South high school, 1200 South McHenry avenue, CrystaJ Lake.
