Bolger, president of McHenry State bank, was one of 27 bankers from across the country who participated in May 2 meeting at the White House to discuss government economic policy and small business. The meeting, called by A. Vernon Weaver, ad­ ministrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, brought together bankers who have demonstrated their support of small business, and top Ad­ ministration economic of­ ficials. Whitman (Whit) Sears, 47, as director of internal auditing has been announced by Intermatic, Inc., manufacturer of automatic timers, lighting and heaters here. Sears was graduated with a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley, Calif., and earned his M.B.A. in foreign operations and small business-new enterprises at Harvard Business school, Boston, Mass. He lives with his wife and four children at 814 West Ringwood road, in Pistakee Hills. GEORGE L. PAPIECH George L. Papiech, 1109 Cumberland circle, McHenry, has retired from the Bell system with over 42 yews' service. Co-workers honored him with a reception in the plant cafeteria. For the past 16 years, Papiech served as field representative coordinating construction projects. He joined Western Electric as a bench hand at the WE Hawthorne Works in Chicago and completed requirements to become a journeyman electrician. He served with the U .S. Army in the South Pacific from 1941 to 1945. Papiech supervised the founding of pilot plants in Downers Grove and Addison in 1970. The retiree is a lector at St. Mary's church, McHenry. His family in­ cludes Ids wife. Bernice; a son Bruce; daughter, Sandra Hirsch; and four grandchildren. Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.'T), a basic course in how to raise responsible children, will be offered in McHenry to give parents the skills they need for the world's hardest job - parenthood. P.E.T. is described as a method, not a collection of rules. Eight weekly sessions begin Sunday, May 18, at 7 p.m. in the First' United 'Methodist church, McHenry, with a fee to be charged much below the customary amount. • Further information is available by callikng 385- 0931. Special Mail Service Set For Memorial Day The McHenry post office will operate on a holiday mail schedule during its Monday, May 26, observance of Memorial day. Postmaster LeRoy Smith said there will be no regular residential or business mail deliveries, and usual post office lobby services will not be available with the ex­ ception of lockbox service. Doors to lock boxes are open 11:10 a.m. until 3:10 p.m. Delivery of certain ex­ pedited ma|l services such as special delivery will continue during the holiday weekend. Mailers should call the post office at 385-0816 for information about rates and holiday schedules. Pick-up from collection boxes also will be on a holiday schedule, as posted on individual boxes, or determined by calling the post office. . Normal mail service will resume Tuesday, May 27. PANCAKE BREAKFAST On May 18 the Fraternal Order of Police, Woodstock Lodge No. 133, will be sponsoring a pancake break­ fast at the Knights of Columbus hall, Route 47 and Greenwood from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. The public is invited.
