It is often not easy to find. * a * * Education is a great asset but it is not exclu sively confined to the acquisition of intelligence. McHenry won the semi final round of regional play by slipping past Round Lake in 10 innings by a score of 11- 9. Round Lake drew first blood as they scored 4 runs in the third on 4 hits and a walk. A lineout doubleplay ended the rally and the Warriors went to work. Chris Connell led off with a walk add scored on Karen Karpavicius' triple. Sue Haddick popped out but Donna Chesler singled in Karpavicius. After two wild pitches and a walk to Pam West the Warriors pulled off a double steal scoring Chesler from third with run number three. McHenry scored two runs in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead. Robin Geiger walked and moved to second on a walk to Karen Karpavicius. Both moved one base on a passed ball. With one out Sue Haddick flew out for an RBI but the throw back to the infield was wild and Kar pavicius also scored. Round Lake tied the score in the bottom of the inning on a double and RBI single Neither team scored in the sixth but in the seventh the Warriors scored twice to take a 7-5 lead. Karen Karpavicius walked with one out, moved to second on a passed ball and then held up as Sue Haddick reached base on an infield error. Both runners ad vanced into scoring position on a wild pitch. Donna Chesler grounded to second for the second out but the play scored a run. Pam West followed with an RBI single and the Warriors held the lead going into the last of the seventh. Round Lake never gave up as a hit batsman, base hit and 2-run triple tied up the score. With only one out Sue Haddick went to work on the mound as the next two Round Lake batters popped out to send the game into extra innings. Haddick retired 9 in a row during a stretch including the seventh through tenth innings. * In the top of the tenth a Round Lake error, 2 base on balls and two clutch extra base hits gave McHenry an 11-7 lead. Terri Bohlman's two run triple and Chris Connell's two run double were the big hits. But Round Lake, after two outs, mounted another comeback as two singles and a 2-run double narrowed the Warrior lead to two. A baserunner interfering with the McHenry shortstop brought the rally to an end. ab r h rbi Bohlman, c 5 11 2 Geiger, If 4 2 0 0 Connell, 2b 5 112 Karpavicius, ss 3 3 1 l Haddick, p 5 1-1 l Chesler, lb 5 11 2 West, cf 3 12 1 Byrne, dh 3 10 0 Bitterman,3b 5 0 1 0 Williams, rf 0 0 0 0 Totals: MCHS 0 00320200 4-11 R .
