He added that because of unusual problems, "we have been forced to spend our time focusing on the day to day operations." "Planning keeps the vitality in an organization", he said, "and I tvfill call on the ^ad ministrators to develop specific goals for their areas." The new president said he hopes to build better relationships with the local state legislators and state agencies and make them aware of the college's needs. Internally he sees some opportunities to do some reorganization to. use the human resources more efficiently. Bartlett is hopeful the college can move ahead on the building program to fulfill the intent of the 1972 referendum. He said, "While some legitimate questions can be raised with regard to our ability to maintain a new building, I really believe we can do so with the present resource level." "One of the major efforts of the college will always be the transfer and oc cupational programs and we will continue to evaluate them to keep them in top shape and also develop new program areas," Bartlett commented. He sees the college moving more into the mid i.<anagement area and fdrlh u into emergency services from EMT to paramedic level. Bartlett feels one of the most exciting growth areas is the seminar-workshop portion of the college's Continuing Education program. "This area enables the college to serve the non-traditional student which is one of the charges of a community college," he said.
