Determined to get'the game in, league officials constructed a make-shift diamond in the outfield of the major league field to avoid inch-deep puddles on the dirt infield. The slippery grass, however, didn't hinder Watros as .he fanned 11 Brewers (strinking out the side twice) and allowed only five hits in the five-inning contest. Although the A's managed only one hit off Brewer pitcher A1 Hulsey, control problems led to 11 walks by the young hurler. Hulsey strt|Ck out 8 Brewers, however. Jeff Hulsey collected 2 singles to pace the losing Brewers. The Brewers record dropped to 3-3. In other youth league action, the Phillies edged the Astros 12-11 and captured their first seaion win.
