lakeland Park & Lakeland Shores n* • r ' " A Carol Cominsky 385-7246 Johnsburg Set Antique Show The popularity of the Antique show has preqjpted officials to again Kbld judging in the early part\ of the McHenry County fair so that visitors will know the winners during the five-day attraction. Judging will take place Wednesday morning, July 30, the first day of the fair, Mrs. Henry Szlachta, chairman, said. The McHenry County fair will run from July 30 through Aug. 3 at the Woodstock fairgrounds. In the past years, this category has been greeted with great enthusiasm. Exhibitors have already begun preparing for this year's competition. June Johnson, of Prospect Heights, will share her expertise with exhibitors, Mrs. Szlachta said. Ms. Johnson is a registered appraiser of antiques and is a member of the NAPA, she has presented numerous lectures and appraisals. Judging will be open, .highlighted with verbal explanation of each item. Classes are much the same as last year with the addition of a few categories. Entry forms will be available at the fair office. Fair office hours between June 16 and June 29 will be 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, and from June 30 through Aug. 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To conserve space and aid in preservation of the items the committee is asking all exhibitors to please bring only one item per class-do not bring pairs or sets. One piece will be enough to in dicate the condition and beauty of the pieces. Deadline for entry is Wednesday, July 16, with entries being placed July 29 between ltla.m. and 6 p.m. For further information or assistance about specific entries or categories, exhibitors should contact Mrs. Szlachta, 338-0262 or Karen Marshall, co- chairman, 338-0854. Safety Hints BY ALAN J. DIXON Secretary of State Have you ever noticed your eyelids becoming heavy and drooping lazily when you were driving along a highway? The experts call this traffic hazard "highway hypnosis." ItV gradually creeps up on youXttntil you realize that your head is nodding, and it can happen at any speed. There are several ways to combat highway hypnosis, all of them simple. Most important, don't start a trip tired. Your mind will stay clear longer if you are well rested. Try to avoid driving long distances at night, but if you must be on the road, keep the dash lights low to reduce the glare. Following the same car or truck for a long distance can cause hypnosis. If you find yourself staring at the same object, carefully pull off the road. A snack or rest break always helps. You should wear loose fitting clothes, keep fresh air circulating in the car, and if the music ,on the radio is too dreamy, switch stations. (A copy of the rules of the Road will be sent to you upon request. Write to Alan J. Dixon, Secretary of State, Springfield, 111. 62756.) / Fete Triple Celebrations PRE-SCHOOL St. John the Baptist school will sponsor a Pre-Sfchool center, in September for three and four year olds.
