Ridgeway road, Michelle Silzer, who moved to Simi Valley, Calif, two years ago, returned for a 3-week visit June 7. She's been staying with Gert and Krista Kaefer of Wonder Lake and was a very busy young lady since her arrival. Activities In cluded visits with former neighbors, the George Leh? man family, Harry Hartjes family, William Kearns family and Harlan Halligan. Her itinerary included the races at the Lake Geneva track, camping with friends at Harrison-Benwell con servation area, visiting Grandma & Grandpa Silzer in Villa Park, visiting the Patti Miller family poolside, seeing old school chums from Johnsburg, a trip to Great America, and, of course, an evening at a well known Lake Geneva night club. Michelle, who is "sorta pre-engaged" to Mike Dade of Simi Valley, got homesick for him and her family and flew home June 25. Her mom had knee surgery on the twenty-fourth, and Michelle wanted to be with her while she was hospitalized, so she cut her visit short. All the Silzers, Pat, Ron, Jeff and Scott, send best wishes to their old friends back here in Illinois. Gert & Krista, who really enjoyed having her, wish she could have stayed all summer. Hurry back, Michelle! SPECIAL CONCERNS Special concerns of the community are Mrs. Julia Heppner and Clayton Brace, who are both in the Wood-* stock hospital. Abo those who remember Andy Raemaker, will want to know thou he is confined to Iowa Methodist hospital, Roam 230, 1200 Pleasant street, Des Moines, Iowa, 50300. Cards would be. ap preciated by all three jof these people, I'm sure. TIDBITS There's a new camper (travel trailer) in town, set out for everyone to see. We guess maybe Lil and Frank are joining the ranks of campers. Have fun kids. Looks like Horse hill up there on the other side of the tracks. It seems there are three families with horses for the kids to ride. At times the fears may seem to be attention getting devices or an attempt to delay going to bed, but in most children fear of the dark is real and, in the worst of circumstances, can be terrifying. Generally, the fear is specific to the point where the child fears there is a "monster in the closet", or a "man hiding under the bed". To many children, however, the fear is vague and they cannot formulate into words exactly what it is they are afraid of. Most children will admit that realistically there is nothing to be afraid of, yet the fear persists in spite of alP reassurances from the parents. Interestingly enough, many night fears in children appear to be somehow related to an upsurge of sexual feelings in the child. To most children awakening of sexual feelings is at best a strange and upsetting ex perience and at worst ex tremely threatening and anxiety provoking. The - sexual feelings referred to are not, of course, comparable to sexual feelings in an adult, but a normal developmental process, the beginnings of which take place in early childhood. Unless extreme, night fears seldom require professional intervention. Often, the presence of a night light or light close by relieves the child of the mysteries of a totally dark room. For other children, sharing a room with a brother or sister is adequate. Even a pet is sometimes enough to calm the child's fe Jext: Culture Shock.
