BOATERS & FISHERMEN The village board has taken into consideration the idea to dismantle and dispose of the river piers, due to unsafe conditions. In essence, there would be no pier either for docking boats or fishing. Acting upon a suggestion from the audience at the June 24 meeting, the board decided to give the pier one last chance to survive. At the July 8 and 15 committee meetings, the pier will be discussed once more as to whether sufficient interest and volunteer manpower can be secured to repair and- or replace the present pier. If there is not enough in terest, the pier will disap pear and in the future, a new pier cannot be built until a permit is issued from the ... corps of engineers (which is very difficult to secure).
