STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD Create Garbage Shortage Through Regular Recycling The 4-H group called the Lincoln Cloverleafs will be working along with the McHenry County Defenders this Saturday at the regular third-Saturday of-every- month recycling drive to be held at the Market Place Saturday, July 19, from 9 to 5 p.m. Citizens are»encouraged to bring their bundled newspapers, cardboard, magazines, clean glass bottles, clean and flattened steel cans, any aluminum products, and used motor oil in plastic jugs with a secure lid. All of these products can be recylcled and put back into our country's natural resource stream rather than becoming a part of the solid wastes that are discarded daily On a National average, each man, woman and child discards about 5 lbs. of trash per day, and this is a figure I hat continues to grow since many our purchases are o v e i f p a c k a g e d a n d Americans subscribe to >re newspapers and izines than ever before. The funds earned by the Lincoln Cloverleafs through their work at the drive will go to support some of the club projects, such as donations to the McHenry County 4-H Youth foundation and to help finance mem bers' trips to the Slate fair for participation. Last year the Lincoln Cloverleafs purchased the "prive Safely!' signs for Johnsburg. An experimental recycling project approved by the City Coun9il is being conducted in McHenry through the end of July with a curbside pick-up service of newspaper, cardboard and magazines being done in a few select communities. Anyone having questions regarding either the regular monthly drive or the curb- side pick-up experiment should call 385-8512.
