T h e S u m m e r B e r r y P i e c Supermarket Saver ssassssssssssssssssssssssssssssd . J REFUNDER TIPS The person who saves box tops and labels to refund for cash, cents-off coupons and free merchandise has to go through a lot of fingernails when removing labels or come up with an easier way. One easy way is to keep a pair of scissors in the kitchen, not an easy task with children in the house, but if you keep them on top of the refrigerator in your easier reach but out of the hands of the tiny ones maybe you can find them when you want them. Removing labels seems like an easy task but sometimes its not! Can labels are generally sealed on one side, if you have a seam ripper from your sewing box, this can easily be used to slit the side near the glue maris and the label will come off easy. • , Enamels, Creamy Cuticle Remover or Base coats (soak bottles to remove labels.) Exhibitors Look To Livestock Auction If pie lovers in the family know no season for their favorite dessert, lake#heart this summer. You can create a sensational pie without baking if you plan ahead. Double Berry Pie is sure to be your cleverest trick. Just keep these staples on hand: a package of lemon flavor' gelatin, frozen whipped topping and a baked graham cracker crumb crust. A time-saving ice cube method hastens thickening of prepared lemon flavor gelatin before thawed frozen whipped topping is blended into it. After the mixture is chilled, fresh strawberries and blueberries are folded in. Spoon into a pie crust and all will be ready to serve after about 2 hours chilling. Now you can bring home the best of the berries for a refreshing "imprompt pie! DOUBLE BERRY PIE 1 package (3 oz) lemon flavor gelatin 2-3 cup boiling water 2 cups ice cubes 1 container (8 oz.) non- dairy whipped topping, thawed 1-2 cup sliced fresh strawberries 1-2 cup fresh blueberries 1 baked 9-inch graham cracker crumb crust, cooled Or use peach flavor gelatin and add 1-2 teaspoon cinnamon with the whipped topping. \ * Dissolve gelatin com pletely in boiling water, stirring about 3 minutes. Add ice cubes and stir constantly until gelatin is thickened, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove any un- melted ice. Using wire whip, blend in whipped lopping; then whip until smooth. Fold- in berries and chill, if necessary, until mixture will mound. Spoon into pie crust. Chill 2 houfrs. Garnish with additional fruit, if desired. ly glued labels, such as ketchup and shampoo are very difficult to remove; soaking in i water will generally remove these easily. Have some newspaper handy and let the ",,)PPor,un1' y Excitement heightens when the McHenry County fair livestock judging is completed and exhibitors look ahead to the annual 4-H and FFA livestock auction. This event pr(Wides an for iMcHenrv glue side down on the paper and let dry; if the glue sticks to the newspaper, cut around edges. This saves your other labels from getting stuck together. On things like ketchup and syrup, it is much easier and cleaner to remove the labels before you use the product. Detergent bottle labels are the devil's work and you should use your scissors or an exacto knife and cut the plastic around the label. Cardboard boxes can also be cut; when necessary, remove the extra cardboard by peeling. Remember that extra weight adds postage to your letter and your aim is to save money.
