The director of Religious Education, Mrs. Mary Marsh expressed her hopes that the coming year would be rewarding for the young people and the parents involved in teaching the program. Mrs. Marsh announced that the St. Patrick's high school students will be holding classes at the Montini Primary center Wednesday evenings instead of at St. Mary's as originally planned. There were no announced changes in the school program. Mrs. Marsh stated that the Religious Education class teachers are now in the process of attending classes and seminars to prepare for the coming year. Anyone interested in assisting with the program is asked to call her at 385-2959 or any of the board members. Field Trip Training A two-part workshop for county teachers is to be offered by the McHenry County Conservation district in September. The focus of the workshop is school class field trips to natural areas. The first part of the workshop is Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the Woodstock Opera House. Charles Lewis of the Morton arboretum will talk about the kind of learning that happens better in a natural area than in the classroom or schoolyard. Teachers have their choice of four after-school sessions for the second part of the workshop. By attending a workshop field session at a conservation site close to their school, teachers can learn what resources are available along the trails. Other classroom teachers will be demonstrating examples of field activities that integrate en vironmental learning with f a m i l i a r c l a s s r o o m discipline such as math, art and language skills. The four field options (4:30 - 8 p.m.) are Glacial Park, Sept. 15; Marengo Ridge, Sept. 17; Burrow's Woods, Sept. 23; and Hickory Grove, Sept. 25. The purpose of the workshop is to provide in terested teachers with the tools they need to effectively use the MCCD sites as learning resources, just as they would use a library. Call John Shiel at 815-678- 4431 for registration in formation. Blue Angels Featured The Navy's famous Blue Angels squadron will be featured at the Aurora Air show Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 6 aqd 7. The Air show is a presentation of the Antique Airplane association. On June 15, 1946, the Blue Angels flew their first flight demonstration of precision techniques of naval aviation. Today the Blue Angels still present the faultless display -t>f aerial artistry that they have shown to more than 138 million spectators. As "Ambassadors of Good Will" they take naval aviation to the public. They seek to attract talented and qualified youth to join them in the all volunteer U.S. Navy and Marine corps. To put on the eight-plane show, the squardron has 15 officers and 74 enlisted personnel. The Blue Angels will sweep into the Aurora air port for the Antique Airplane association Air show at 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
