SEPTEMBER 16 Whispering Oaks Garden Singers Perform For Seniors At Their Next Regular Meeting i At the last meeting of the McHenry Senior Citizens, which featured a Flower and Garden show, Wanda Zima, Program chairlady an­ nounced that the Union 76 singers will entertain at the next meeting, to be held Monday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m., at West campus. She expressed the club's appreciation to the judges of the Flower and Garden show, William Wilson and Kathryn Petertyl, who said they were pleased with the beautiful assortment of entries by the members. There were 20 vegetable entries: 3 firsts, 2 seconds, 6 thirds and 3 for effort Seventeen potted flowers or plants were displayed: 2 firsts, 6 seconds, 7 thirds and 3 for effort. The flower arrangements consisted of 27 entries: 5 firsts, 4 seconds n thirds, and 6 for effort There was one special arrangement of mounted dried flowers. Meat Loaf l'/i lbs. ground beef 1 egg, slightly beaten 1 T minced onion salt 1/8 t pepper 1 lO'/i-oz. can con­ densed Cheddar- cheese snnn 3 T milk 2 c fresh bread crumbs Vi c chopped celery V« c chopped dill pickle About V/i hours before serving: In medium bowl, combine meat, egg, onion, ]/4 teaspoon salt and pepper. Dilute soup with milk; and Vi cup of this to meat mixture. Mix well. On large piece of waxed paper, lightly pat meat mixture into rectangle about 14 inches by 9 inches. In bowl, mix bread crumbs, celery, pickle and Vi teaspoon salt; sprinkle over meat, leaving 1-inch border. Starting at narrow end of meat, roll it up, jelly-roll fashion; gently press ends of roll to seal; place seam-side down, on 10 inch by 6 inch by 2 inch baking dish. Bake 50 minutes at 375 degrees.
