GO FOR IT WARRIORS VOLLEYBALL Expect 65 Girls McHenryite, Pam Shaffer is starting her fourth season of coaching at McHenry High School and has not yet started practice as of August 27 with her women's volleyball squad. Between the varsity and Karen Krafts freshmen and sophomores, Shaffer expects about 65 players to show up for the first practice. Coming off a dismal 3-17 season, last year, the Warriors will be looking to let- termen Donna Chester, and all-conference volleyballer, and Pam West, a Junior who coach Shaf fer referred to as the "hardest server in the area." Other seniors who Shaffer thinks will improve the warriors include Peg Freund, Krista Koefer, Joyce Jaskowiak, Deb Bauer, Kim Fredericks and Vicki To Compete Nowak. Lisa Benoy looks promising as a junior also. Those that Shaffer will miss this year due to graduation are Mary Foley, Sharon Shaw, Dawn Her mes, and Peg McGee. "The top four teams in our conference will be Wood stock, Crystal Lake South, McHenry and Jacobs," Shaf fer predicted. behind West Campus. Ritthaler Is a senior halfback and a returning letterman from coach Schlender's 1979 team. He will also be playing some defensive end for the Warriors this year. At Western, Shaffer played field hockey, basketball, softball and track. She made the Midwest Hockey team and was captain of the team. Pam also threw the javelin in track and took second in the state with her throw. She takes pride in sen ding nine of her kids to state in track competition in her four years. The 26- year-old Shaffer is single.
