CROSSCOUNTRY Try To Beat Seventh In State How do you top a season in which your cross coun­ try team finished with a 16-1 record and a seventh place finish in state competition? "All you have to do is set higher goal to attain," cross country coach and Athletic Director Hdns Rokus said. With his top three runners back, Rokus is setting his goals higher and thinks that Marian can reach them. "We want to improve our post-season tourney record," Rokus said."With the boys I have, I think we can do it, too." Marian will have a whopping 23 boys out for cross country this year, which is massive compared to John- sburg's squad of seven and McHenry with 15. It seems to be a good mix of all classes, with seven seniors, four juniors, seven sophomores and four freshmen running in 1980. The top three runners will be seniors Mike Eisele, Paul Sandall and Rod Gregory who are all lettermen. Andy Mass, Marty McCormick, Joe Johnson and Chris Nylander round out the seniors with Johnson and Nylander also being lettermen. Junior runners are Tom Wottreng, Gary Dernelle, Tom Wember, and Paul Herkes. Nick Wottreng, John Zabielski, Bob hartmann, Bob McCarthy, Dan Cot- teleteer, Tom Wember and Tom Hillebrand are the sophomores while freshmen include Greg Albringer, Jay Chapman, Colin McCormick and John Wottreng.
