Dated this 26th day of August, A.D. 1980. Rosemary Azzaro, County Clerk (Pub. Sept. 10,174 24,1980) Traditional Programming Report To School Board - HOSPITAL NOTES WATER SAMPLES The Illinois En vironmental Protection Agency has proposed a change in the procedure for analyzing water samples relative to radioactivity in drinking water. The proposal was made to the Illinois Department of Public Health which con ducts this type of water analysis. The new procedure will provide the true value of radiological parameters in every water analysis. Topics not covered at an earlier meeting, including a return to traditional programming and parent involvement in school af fairs, formed the focus for the McHenry high school board instructional meeting held tuesday. East Campus Principal William Dodds noted some adjustment for teachers accustomed to smaller classes in the modular scheduling and now faced with a class of between 20 and 30 students. He added that he was attempting to bring the best of the flex mod system into the traditional program now in effect. Comparing records of recent years, Dodds pointed out that grades are im proved, the school building is cleaner and there is much better student control. Greg Johnson, principal at West campus, explained the problem of involving parents in school meetings and activities. Johnson said that in spite of all kinds of en couragement, it was im possible to get better than a 20 to 30 percent turnout of parents for meetings. In the matter of the West campus Truancy In tervention program, Johnson said that where there was little problem with only juniors and seniors on campjis, there Is more truancy in the four-year school. This, he said, he is trying to correct. , Johnson noted that a check had been made for state and federal funding in this area, then commented that fun ding had been secured through Special Education. This presents a problem in that testing is required for this money but Johnson feels results have little meaning for the school. In the area of testing, last year's results showed local high school students to be at, or above, the national norms. In the only business transacted, Jos. Frett 4 Son, Inc., was awarded a contract for the Central Ad ministration building roof repairs. The bid was in the amount of $15,960. This is a cooperative project with Elementary School District 15. McHENRY HOSPITAL ADMISSIONS: Brad Smith, William Lor, Rose Huff, Leo Hiller, Christine Crlus, Earl W. Land Bank Members Hear Brighter Outlook Predicted nt«IIESIfKY Konte firwrnishinfis Homt »t Hmnicjn O't* After a year of cir cumstances affecting agricultural income prospects negatively, John Webb, president of the Federal Land Bank association of DeKalb- Woodstock, believes a brighter outlook is merited. Webb told 675 FLBA an nual meeting guests last week he believes- prospects of improved agrucultural income will trigger an in crease in land values following the past year's stagnant farm real estate market. Higher money costs, caused by continued in flation and a volatile rate market, prompted farmers to move cautiously in their long-term financial com mitments, yet loan volume increased over those of the preceding year. Pete Petges, vice- president, Woodstock branch office, told members 225 loans totaling almost $33 million were closed in 1979. That 29 more loans and $4.7 million more that in 1978. At the end of 1979, the FLBA of DeKalb-Woodstock-a far mer owned cooperative established to provide long- term loans-had 1,340 loans outstanding. This represents an increase of 100 loans over 1978. Petges reported larger volume and loan totals in the first six months of 1980, compared with the first six months of 1979. In the first six months of 1980, the FLBA has closed 139 loans totaling almost $26 million. That's seven more loans and $4.3 million dollars than for the similar period in 1979. After strong loan demand the first three months of 1980, Petges said interest costs discouraged farmland purchases. "The demand for money has increased recently as the rates fell this summer," he summarized. "I remain optimistic about the future of American agriculture, and at FLBA we have plenty of money available to qualified people on qualified property for qualified purposes," he summarized. The FLBA of DeKalb- Woodstock serves farmers in Lake, McHenry, Boone, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane and the north part of Cook counties. The headquarters office is at Sycamore with branch offices at Woodstock, Geneva and Belvidere. To give publicity to the movie, Zemeckis appeared last week on such television programs as A.M. Chicago and the Roy Leonard show. The full length Columbia picture is not the first for Zemeckis, who studied cinematography in southern California, where he now resides.
