STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD The Woodstock-McHenry League of Women Voters is sponsoring the first of four car care clinics at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Arco Family center, 3602 West Elm (corner of Route 120 and Route 31), McHenry. The other clinics are scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 24, 7:30 p.m. Sept 30 and 9 a.m. Oct. 1. The clinics are designed principally for women, but anyone 16 years and older may attend. Each clinic lasts 2'/2 hours and has a limit of 25 persons The course includes an instructional slide show, plus "hands on" experience in basics such as operating a self-serve pump changing a tire, jump-starting a battery and checking tire pressure and fluid levels. Participants will be given a set of reference material to take with them. R e s e r v a t i o n s a r e necessary. In McHenry, call 385-3254. Ringwood News 385-8037 653-9262 728-0343 Reception For Pastor Is Planned Members of the Ringwood United Methodist church will be holding a reception for Pastor Gordon Smith and his wife, Evelyn, on Tuesday evening, Sept. 23, at 6:30 p.m. This will be a potluck dinner at the Ringwood church. Everyone from the Greenwood and Ringwood area are most welcome to join us that evening to meet and get acquainted with Gordon and Evelyn. Pastor Smith has been serving both churches since June but it was only last weekend he was able to move from their home in Elgin to the parsonage at Greenwood. Gordon and Evelyn have four grown children, two sons and two daughters. We deeply regret to report that their daughter, Marilyn, was recently in a srious auto accident in Elgin but has now been released from the hospital and is convalescing at home with her parents. Our prayers are with her for a complete and speedy recovery. Pastor Smith will be keeping the following office hours for the two churches. Rebecca Ann weighed 5 lbs. 9>/2 ozs, and Amanda Louise weighed 4 lbs. 9 ozs. Waiting at home to welcome their sisters were ten year old Larry and six year old Andy Spencer. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Schaft of Ringwood. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Spencer of Wonder Lake and great- grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Byron Sowers of our town and Mrs. Nellie Spencer of Atwood, 111. CONDOLENCES The Ringwood area wishes to extend its sympathy to the Elmer Carr family. Mr. Carr, a long time resident of this area and more recently of McHenry, passed away on Sept. 3. He was 81 years old and born in Ringwood. Burial was Saturday, Sept. 6 in the Carr-Harrison cemetery, Ringwood. BIRTHDAYS Jim Etten, Annie Rich, Cliff Spencer will be celebrating their special day on Sept. 13 and Sept. 14 is that special day for Sandy (Hoffman) Hunt. Sept. 15 finds Mike Winters getting 1 year older as does Jenny Marcellis and Bobby Behl. Janice Skidmore and Don Etten will add another year on Sept. 18 and Sept. 18 finds Karen Kuhrt adding another year. Sept. 19 was a busy day with Harry Hogan, little Lenny Ackerman and Karen Bowling sharing their day. Happy birthday to all. Part I of the plan examines program and fiscal data for fiscal years 1979, 1980 and 1981. The second part of the plan studies illegitimacy and its relationship to public assistance programs.
