The McHenry County Defenders' 40-foot semi-trailer still holds the mixed papers brought to both the July and August drives. Once these are sold or given to a com pany willing to use them, probably corrugated card board will be accepted for recycling in McHenry in addition to the regular newspaper, glass, cans, aluminum and oil. ' Magazines and ad vertising mail will need to be disposed of through the individual homeowners' regular disposal channels.. There are well over 1,000 families in McHenry that make recycling a part of their daily lives. Over 500 tons of material, primarily newspapers, are saved from landfill each year through the monthly recycling drive held at the Market Place, the bi-monthly paper drive held at Shepherd of the Hills church and the annual drive held in Johnsburg by the Junior high school. Anyone having questions regarding the preparation of materials for recycling or any other questions regarding recycling, should call the McHenry County Defenders representative at 385-8512.
