Marshall Werry, pastor of First Baptist church, 509 Front Street, McHenry, will be featured as speaker on Bread of Life, a program to be broadcast over WMBI-FM at 9:05 p.m. on Oct. 13 and 15. Werry will also be the guest of Bob Murfin on the popular Morning Clock program Oct. 13, at 8:10 a.m. on WMBI (1110) and WMBI-FM (90.1). Bread of Life is produced by WMBI to acquaint listeners with the ministries of local churches. Each week a different church and pastor is featured. WMBI and WMBI-FM are broadcast ministeries of Moody Bible Institute. The stations provide a variety of programs designed to meet the needs and interests of the Christian family. Proclaim Oct. 12 Run For Life Day Marathon Sunday, Oct. 12, has been proclaimed as Run for Life Day in Illinois by Governor James Thompson to help promote two marathons scheduled by the Kidney Foundation for that day. The proclamation states "Since its organization in 1949, the Kidney Foundation of Illinois has dedicated itself to the prevention, treatment and cure of kidney disease through programs of research, public and professional education, patient and community services and organ donation. The Kidney Foundation relies on public support of fund raising projects to finance these programs." In Palatine the 'Run for Life' will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Palatine high school on Rohling road at Cun ningham drive. In Glen Ellyn, the marathon will be held in Lake Ellyn park at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 12, starting at the boathouse on Lake Ellyn (Lenox road). Both 3.1 and 6.2 mile courses will be set out for both marathons. There is an entry fee for both races. All proceeds will benefit the Kidney Foundation of Illinois. Awards will be given at the Palatine and Glen Ellyn marathons to the top three entrants to finish in each age category for both men and women. The age categories are 18 and under, 19 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 and over. At both marathon locations registration on the day of the race will begin at 7:30 a.m. To preregister for the Palatine 'Run for Life' or for more information call Diana at 283-1300. Police Alert Citizens Alert bulletins are prepared as a public service by the McHenry County Sheriffs Police Crime Prevention section under the direction of Undersheriff Henry Nulle. Burglaries: There were 19 burglaries reported this past week »nHing Oct. 3.15 were homes, 3 were to vehicles, and 4 were to businesses. Of those reported burglaries, 5 were by unlocked doors, l was by unlocked windows, 4 were by forcing the window, 5 were by forcing the door, and 1 was an unlocked garage door. The most common items taken were an antique dresser, chest of drawers, rugs, stereo speakers, turntable, snowmobiles, mechanics tools, a large amount of pistols, rifles and shotguns, watches, jewelry, chainsaws, bicycles, office equipment, liquor, hunting knives, pressure sprayer, U.S. currency and a Chevrolet pick-up truck. The known value of the reported missing items was $23,625.00. The hardest hit areas were areas bordering Crystal Lake, McHenry, Wonder Lake, Woodstock and Harvard. Traffic Radar is still used throughout the county. Remember, it's easier to slow down and less expensive than paying the cost of a traffic violation or becoming another accident victim. Hun dreds of volunteers are in the field concentrating on work site solicitations. More than 550 small businesses in McHenry county are on record as United Way supporters and are being contacted by the volunteers. Work site solicitations involve company payroll deduction programs, which include employers who have indicated they will give their employees an opportunity to support United Way through wort site solicitation and payroll deduction. The 1980- 81 goal is $256,000, representing funds required to assist 19 different United Way human service agen cies in continuing their programs for another year. Aside from industrial and small business solicitations, the professional community is also being contacted. Responsible for the dental solicitations is, Dr. Jay Saylor of McHenry, who represents Catholic Social Services. Dick Scura, president of the McHenry County Bar Association, wiil co-chair the lawyers cam paign with Ron Prather of Crystal Lake. The campaign will con tinue through October.
