The club is happy to have members who are not interested in skiing in the shows, but would like to join the organization to help in other areas. They would then be a social member. The Ski club is very grateful to the community of Wonder Lake for all the support they have shown over the past summer. As a member of the community who attends the shows, I can personally say we are all grateful to the Ski club for the hard work and long hours of practice they put in to give us such beautiful and professional shows. Public Assistance Rolls Have Increased Illinois Public Assistance rolls have increased by 33,577 persons, 3.6 percent, between August, 1979 and August, I960, it was an nounced by Public Aid Director Jeffrey C. Miller. "During the last legislative session, we predicted our caseload would increase due to the nationwide economic downturn. The caseload increases show the recession is not over for a significant number of Illinois residents," Miller said. While nation's unem ployment rate has dropped, many persons who have been unemployed for a long period of time have lost their connections with the work force and are no longer counted as unemployed. Many of these same persons are now receiving public aid. In August, 1979, there were 944,163 persons receiving assistance statewide, compared with 977,740 persons in August, 1960. Public aid roils reached their highest point in March, 1976 when 1,097,336 persons received assistance. The lowest caseload total in recent years was reached in November, 1979. The number of recipients in Cook County increased by 7,344 persons, 1.1 percent, -over the one-year period, while downstate (including collar counties) totals in creased by 26,233 persons, 9.9 percent. Cook County accounts for about 70 per cent of the total number of persons on public aid. Caseload totals include persons receiving Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), State Supplemental Payments to the Aged, Blind and D i s a b l e d , M e d i c a l Assistance and (in Chicago) General Assistance. The G e n e r a l A s s i s t a n c e Program is administered locally in downstate coun ties. Johnsburg High School Tells Season Of Plays so*mn SCHMITTY'S BARBER SHOP 134 S. Thompson said. Last November, the governor asked that'all state departments convert to the use of gasohol within a year. "Of the 8 million gallons of motor fuel expected to be pumped at state fuel sites during Fiscal Year 1981, about 97 percent will be gasohol," said Thompson.
