"Many members of the McHenry community have given support during the past year through financial contributions, clothing and materials which have "helped the handicapped - help themselves". "Without this continued support we could not have provided jobs for han dicapped and disabled workers or paid wages to these workers. "Agnes Adams, "Local Representative" "Dear Editor: "The League of Women Voters of Woodstock- McHenry strongly supports Proposition 2, the proposed Cut-Back amendment, because single member districts will: "..offer real contests, not free seats; "..guarantee majority rule; ". .clarify the voting procedure and aid the use of the three-vote bullet to distort the results; "..provide representative districts half the size and population of the current three-member districts; legislators will be more visible and accountable to their constituents. "..give the voter power to hire and fire and end the wheeling and dealing by the parties through control of the primary." "In addition, the Cut-Back amendment will reduce the size of the House of Representatives from 177 to a more workable 118 members, saving the tax payers several million dollars annually. We ask all voters to vote 'Yes' on Proposition 2 Nov. 4. "Sincerely, "LynneDonarksi "Local Chairman" Iabon, second; Jesse Peterson, third.
