Road Fund Shows Modest Increase PAGE 11 - PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY. NOVEMBER S, ltM A mini-surge in revenues has put the Illinois Road fund in slightly better shape than it was a year ago at this time, but the figures indicate that less money is likely to come into the fund later in the year, comptroller Roland W. Burns reported. Burris said that his quarterly review of the road fund shows that the available balance in the fund on Sept. 30 was $41 million - $23 million higher than the same date one year ago, and $1$ million higher than the balance on June 30, I960, the end of the last fiscal year. But the modest im provement in the road fund balance also has a drawback. Burris noted that with three-fourths of the fiscal year remaining, Illinois has already received approximately one-third of all the road revenue the Bureau of the Budget ex pects to get the rest of the current fiscal year. "Obviously," the comp troller said, "the remaining road funds that are an ticipated will have to be spread a little thinner over the next three quarters unless the Governor's revenue estimates are off. So until we know the details of the Governor's new tran sportation program, we must spend prudently in the next three quarters for high ways."
