Following a reception for 150 guests, the couple honeymooned in California, where, the groom is stationed in the U.S. Marine corps, and they will reside in Twenty-Nine Palms. STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD On Nov. 8, the Prairie Grove gymnasium will once again turn into an auction hall ready to sell everything from trees to a team- autographed football from the Bears. This annual program is the main fund raising event for the school's parent-teacher organization. This year, however, there is a difference "We have so many hand­ made items donated every year that we have decided to give these special pieces a booth of their own", said the PWP Holds Thursday, Nov 6, PWP Chapter No. 189, will hold another discussion group in Crystal Lake, starting at 8 p.m. It will be on 'how to be self reliant and in control of your life'. On Friday, Nov. 7, the chapter will hold its general meeting at the American Legion hall, Oak and Woodstock streets in Crystal I^ike, beginning at 8:30 p.m The speaker, Dan Andrus, will talk on remarriage, the pleasures and pitfalls. Andrus holds a masters degree in Community Health chairperson of the Christ­ mas Boutique, Barb Carow. It will include gifts and decorations and will open at 9 a.m., with the garage sale section. There are over 50 personal things from stars. Theatre tickets, dinners, car oil changes, macrame lessons and more will be sold to the highest bidder. Lunch menu includes pizza, hot dogs, fresh popcorn and soft drinks. "GRANDMA'S TREASURES ON PARADE" is the title for the fashion show that is to be presented Nov. 19, 7:30 p.m., at the Johnsburg high school's well-known theatre-in-the-round. The Junior class is sponsoring the event to raise funds for the Senior prom. Patrick Smith. Heather Bode and Grandma West appear ready to greet everyone with a warm and cozy display donated by local merchants. Seniors Enjoy Dinner There were 140 members present when the McHenry Senior Citizens enjoyed a delicious Fall dinner at the beautifully decorated West Campus high »• school cafeteria on Oct. 27. President David Liehr in­ troduced Reverend William a Baumann, who said the invocation. This being 'party night' the reading of reports was dispensed with and after dinner, the cooks and waitresses were commended for the fine meal and good service. Walt Lymann gave Illinois Bell's talk program, "Science Is Not Magic", wherein he acted in a dual role of scientist and magician. His program was both informative and very entertaining, as he told many humorous anecdotes when he performed his magic. He also explained and demonstrated some of the practical science used by Illinois Bell labs to meet the communication needs of the future. John Doerr, Tour chair­ man, reminded the mem­ bers of the bus trip to see "Oliver" at Lincolnshire. There still are some tickets left and Ruth Fradell can be contacted for them. Doerr also announced that a bus trip to see "The Nutcracker" at Arie Crown could be arranged. Vice President, Tom Gatlin, asked all board members to be present at the next board meeting on Nov. 3, at 10 a.m., in the McHenry Public Library. Wanda Zima, Program chairman, reminded the seniors that the Choral Club of McHenry will give the program at the next meeting, on Nov. 10. The members appreciate the wonderful programs the choral club presents each year. ANNOUNCES THE OPENING OF HER NEW SHOP SAME BUILDING AS H & R BLOCK Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Joyce Kilmer No 573, recently enjoyed a unique event. Mass preceded the social gathering and festivities at the Knights of Columbus hall, and then five charter members recalled the first meeting sixty years ago. under the title. Daughters of Isabella Laura Weber, a secretary in past years, said seventy- two members were in at­ tendance at the first meeting. Florence Knox, a teacher for fifty years, reminded everyone that Elizabeth Miller was the first regent. Dorothy Weber remem-, suggest a food shower for FISH to a club, sodality or group of folks. FISH is still hoping to fill needs for families - of a 30" gas stove, pots and pans for cooking and baking, bunk beds and for an expectant mother, a bassinet and a bathinett. Arrangements will be made for pickup. Responses to these requests is very much ap­ preciated by FISH and those whose needs are filled. M.G. HOURS: bered that the first meeting was at McAvoy hall. Dorothy, an accomplished organist is at St Patrick's daily to play at the eight o'clock Mass Genevieve Knox, a forty- three year teacher recalled that members from Carroll Court in Chicago came by train to aid in the organization of Court Joyce Kilmer No 573. Nellie Doherty, a retired teacher, spoke with a feeling of happiness that mem­ bership in the organization has given her. Other members joined with her in the hope that long absent members will return. Sponsor Fund Raiser The United Methodist Women of the First United Methodist church of McHenry are sponsoring a Shop and Share program the week before Thanksgiving for the benefit of the church Building fund. Shopping days will be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdiay, Nov. 17, 18 and 19. Shop and Share iden­ tification cards are available at the church office or from members of the U.M.W. Persons presenting them at the checkout counter of a specific iocal supermarket will help make this program a successful venture, as a percentage of the sales will be credited to the U.M.W.
