*•% IIKM'IM; I'AWS ANIMAL WELFARE ASSOCIATION P.O. Box 205 * Crystal lok*. Illinois 60014 • (815)459-2641 Where would Helping Paws be without the people who volunteer their services in so many different ways - foster homes, who play such a tremendously important rote; volunteers who assist at fund raising events; those who donate the beautiful hand made items and delicious "goodies" for bake sales; the merchants who proudly display Helping Paws collection cans; the many people who send in contributions and coupons; plus all of our valued members. Our poem regarding a lonely dog touched many hearts and we have had numerous requests to agaih run it in the Helping Paws column: FROM A LONELY DOG I wish someone would tell me what it is that I've done wrong. Why do I have to stay chained up and be left alone so long? They seemed so glad to have me when I came here as a pup. There were so many things we'd do while I was growing up. The Master said he'd train me as a companion and a friend. The Mistress said she'd .never fear to be left alone again. The children said they'd feed me and brush me every day. They'd play with me and walk me if I would only stay. But now the Master "hasn't time," the Mistress says I shed. She doesn't want me in the house, not even to be fed. The children never walk me. They always say, "Not now." I wish that I could please them. Won't someone tell me how? All I had, you see, was love. I wish they would explain. Why they said they wanted mine, and then left it on a chain. SECTION 2 - PAGE 1 - PLAIN DEALER • Religious Education Reschedule Sunday Classes char in the Re A major eligious Education nge Sdu program of St. Patrick's was amjounced by Mrs. Geri Davis, president of the board of Religious Education. Sunday morning religious education classes for the upper grade level students that were originally held in St. Mary's school building will no longer be held at that location. Due to the request from St. Mary's for a sub stantial rent for the building, it was unanimously decided Conservation Need Is Told In Booklet McHenry County college's efforts to conserve energy and to make students and the public aware of the need for conservation have been recognized in an Energy Idea Conservation handbook >lished by the Academy tor Educational Develop er* ICC's "Energy Ex- uous or G lint. £ perience ", a workshop held last year including films, speakers and other activities focusing on the subject of energy, is listed in the booklet which compiles 500 examples of imaginative and innovative energy saving ideas being used by the nation's colleges and universities. by the board to move the children to the St. Patrick's school building. Because of severe over crowding. it then became necessary to reschedule all the classes into two sessions. The first session from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and the second session is from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. All children in one family have been scheduled into the same session. The times selected were the best ones to fit around the Mass schedule at St. Patrick's. Students were FRIDAY, NUVbMttfcH 4, iww advised of this change on Sunday, Nov. 2, and a letter of explanation was sent home to all the parents. The new schedule begins Nov. 9. A parent meeting it scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 16, during the times of both sessions to enable the parents and board members to discuss the change and its effect on the program. Mrs. Mary Marsh, director of Religious Education of St. Patrick's program, expressed feelings that the combined program will be successful because of total support from the teaching staff and aides. Any questions concerning the changes, or the program will be answered by con tacting Mrs. Marsh or any member of the board. DON'S 4105 E. Wonder Lake Rd.
