I have mentioned the establishment of the mobile eye in my column before. The watches include Johnsburg, Sunnyside, Sunnyside Estates, Pistakee Terrace and Highlands. APRIL ELECTION The elections are now part of history and we have a new president-elect, Ronald Reagan. This coming April will be election time in the village. I hope the turnout is as enthusiastic as it was for the president! We will be choosing a mayor, clerk and a few trustees. FIRE AT NEIGHBORS On Friday, Oct. 31, in the midst of Halloween trick or treaters, a nearby neighbor was hit by fire. Peggy and John Forest of 4014 Sunset lane lost all their personal belongings when fire, caused by wiring, destroyed the interior of their home. Fortunately no one was injured. The family are living in a motel at present while they search for a place to live for the time it will take for their home to be repaired. What wasn't destroyed by fire was badly damaged by smoke. VILLAGE MEETING On Tuesday, Nov. 4, the village held its regular monthly meeting. This being election night, the turnout was not the best. Everyone was waiting to see who would be elected as our fortieth president. The village is still looking for a party to take down a few trees on village property that were damaged in storms this past summer. If you are interested, call the clerk at 385-6023. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the village is Nov 18, at the Johnsburg Junior high. SPORTS HONORS On Wednesday, Oct. 22, the Johnsburg Junior high held their annual Fall Awards night to honor those students who had participated in the Fall sports of flag football, softball, and cross country. A trophy for Most Valuable Player and Honorary Captain was presented to those students who were selected by their team­ mates. Newly elected officers are: Carol Toussaint-president; Diane Miskovic- vice--president; Char Pieper-secretary- treasurer; chairperson- Concessions-Sue Maiorca. The Booster club is very appreciative of the com­ munity for their fantastic support of our "Nowhere else but Johnsburg T'Shirt" sale this past spring. The club made $520 which could not have been possible if it were not for our Johnsburg boosters. It was announced that all boys gym wear is now being sold at a sporting goods store in McHenry. The athletic department was allotted $1,500 for their needs. It was voted to purchase 8th grade cheerleader's uniforms, 2 weight machines to be in­ stalled in the junior high gym and 16 warm ups for the wrestling team. The first boys 7th and 8th grade home game will be Thursday, Nov. 21 at the junior high. So come out and support your team!
