Wonder Lake Anne Sowers 653-9549 For Christmas Season SECTION 2 -PAGE 7 - PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY. NOVEMBER It. 1 Opera House Entertainment Hold Bazaar And Bake Sale Members of Company 2 Firemen's Auxiliary are adding a special feature to their annual pre- Thanksgiving bake sale. This year there will also be hand crafted articles that might be purchased for Christmas presents. The bake sale and bazaar will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Co. 2 firehouse, located on Thompson road, in Highland Shores. That's the S a t u r d a y b e f o r e Thanksgiving, so you can buy your baked goods and put them in the freezer until the holiday. Profits made from the bake sale and bazaar, along with other activities held by the auxiliary, will be used to supply the Co. 2 firemen with needed equipment. NEW RESIDENT Wonder Woods recently acquired a new resident who has moved into the John Raber home. His ancestry goes back to Australia, but he definitely is no kangaroo. He is an eight-month-old Australian Terrier named Dustin who is a hit with the neighborhood. There seems to be a controversy as to who the dog belongs to, either Johnny or Peter. That seems to happen during the daylight hours only though, because when 4 a.m. rolls around and Dustin is anxious to perform one of his puppy duties, mom\ (Mary) seems to be the sole owner! SOCCER SEASON ENDS Another season of soccer has come to an end for participants in the Wood stock Parks and Recreation Soccer league. Several of our Wonder Lake area young people were involved in this program. Taking first place in the sixth, seventh and eighth grade division was a team coached by Jim Connely of the Village of Wonder Lake. Wonder Lakers on this team were: Shawn Connely, Ken Glaves, Don Kaiser, Mike Phister, Chuck Sowers, Michele Vogel, Jim Wagner, and Keith Dudziak. In the second and third grade division, one team remained undefeated. Two Wonder Lake boys were members of that team. They are Matt Dudziak and Pat Sowers. Their coaches, George Voegel and Bill Wilson treated the team to pizza after the final game of the season. Two other Wonder Lake boys, Jeff Glaves and Brett Reinhard played on other teams in the same league. Congratulations to all the soccer players who made watching just as exciting as playing. MEETING TIME CHANGED Since the program for the Nov. 20 meeting of the Woman's club of Wonder Lake will take a little longer than usual, the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Nativity Lutheran church, instead of the normal time of 8 p.m. Those who attend the meeting will see a demon stration on silk flower making and then will be able to make a silk flower cor sage of their own if they wish to do so. Hostesses for the evening will be Gerry Fichtner, Joann Firnbach, Harriet Fournier, Bonnie Glaves, Betty Sullivan, and Pat Dustimer.
