A portable kerosene heat­ er is an ideal gift for the practical family that wants to conserve energy and cut heating bills but keep warm at the same time. With a kerosene heater you won't have to bundle up, chop, •stack and carry wood or sho­ vel coal to beat the energy crunch. Many of the heaters on the market today will provide heat for the living room, family room, den, basement, garage workshop, laundry room or sun porch for just pennies per hour. Most of them travel well, so you can take them to a weekend home, hunting cabin or campsite. Some models pro­ vide light and a simple cook­ ing facility as well as heat, which are good features in case of a power failure. The better units burn ker­ osene with 99.9 percent effi­ ciency and without smoke or odor. They operate at a sub­ stantially lower cost than electric heat and at about one-half the cost of central oil systems.
