That building along with additions in 1947 and 1957 com prise the current East Campus building. Due to deterioration of the physical plant and mechanical systems, a rather com plete renovation of the existing facility was undertaken in 1979. Plans for this work were developed by the architectural firm of O'Donnell, Wicklund, Pigozzi Architects, Inc. General contractor for this project was Althoff Industries, a local con tractor. The renovation of the physical structure includes a totally refurbished lower gym, an improved main gym, a newly equip ped cafeteria, and a modernized teaching theatre. Other changes include new flooring in many hallways and stairwells, the addition of fireproof ceiling materials completely renovated locker room areas, and improvements in the fine arts area. Newly painted walls in hallways, gym areas, and some classrooms greatly improve the appearance of the building. Mechanical renovation provides an updated heating and ventilation system, new electrical wiring, and improved lighting in many areas of the building. In addition, extensive roof repairs were made due to deterioration caused by the severe winters of recent years. A ' - In order to memorialize the work which has been done to improve the alma mater of many McHenry residents, rededication ceremonies will be taking place at McHenry High School East Campus on Sunday, January 18, at 3 p.m. in the Teaching Theatre opposite the main entrance to the building on Green Street. The public is invited to attend this memorable event. Formal ceremonies will be followed by tours of the newly renovated facility with refreshments served in the new cafeteria.
