NUNDA CAUCUS Taking part in the basics of township government last Tuesday. Jan. 13, were Republican committeeman George Garbacz and his wife Edna; Pat Morrison working as an election judge, and her husband Norm; Brian and Lily Ann Baker; and Bruno and Margaret Karas. About 150 people gathered at the new Nunda Township headquarters to vote for their candidates for town ship supervisor, assessor, clerk, road commissioner and trustees. Township government is the closest governing body for non- incorporated areas in our state. Local problems are brought to the township officials, where they can often be solved or else funneled into the proper channels of county or state government. It is interesting to watch local politics in actiorf. One can better appreciate government by being a part of how it works. GRANDPARENTS AGAIN Willard and Isabelle Pierce becam^ grand parents once again Dec. 31, when their daughter Anne gave birth to a daughter Kelly May was welcomed by her father and her brother Glen John in their home in Wisconsin. Peggy and Bill Hen- drickson saw their fourth and newest grandchild Steven Todd, after his, release from the hospital at the age of one whole week. Both grandparents were astounded at the baby's hair, which seemed to be the color of pure gold Grandchildren are such a special joy. SPECIAL DAYS Happy birthday wishes go to Allen Povidas and Bill Koehler who celebrate their natal day Jan. 21; and Dianne Dember whose day is Jan. 24. Much of Myldred's time is spent visiting with her mother, who is in Carestoel in McHenry. Happy anniversary wishes go to Peggy and Bill Hen- drickson who celebrated their 30th Jan. 13 Peggy says this is the start of a new regime The last 30 years were Bill's; the next 30 will be hers Does this mean. Peg -- that you had seven children and now it's Bill's turn? COLD WEATHER Ice fishermen must have special body insulation to withstand the cold wintery blasts just for the pleasure of fishing. Every day several hardy souls can be seen standing by holes chopped in the ice on Lily lake. Those fish must really taste delicious after all that cold! The birds are busy at the bird feeders. Especially in this snow covered time, they need man's help in providing food. Thanks is given by being able to watch the tiny chickadees, the juncoes. the little downy woodpeckers with the spot of red on their heads and the larger red heads, the proud blue jays, the sparrows, the bright red crested cardinals. And to go out in the cold and hear the birds singing makes Spring seem much closer. COMMUNITY CALENDAR Jan. 21. Lily Lake Con servation Club, Inc.
