You don't even have to give your name if you don't want to. Per sonally though, I don't know why you wouldn't want to identify yourself because this is a good way to keep our crime rate down. The Sheriff's department has told me they are more than willing to check out all calls. CHANGE OF DATE The date of the Wonder Lake Frost-Bite Golf Open has been moved up from Feb. 1 to Feb. 8, because of a conflict of events with the Lakers Snowmobile club. Tee off time is set for 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 8. For reservations call either 653-2061, 653-3126. or 653-9497 by Jan. 17. KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION Harrison school is beginning to compile a list of children who will be eligible for kindergarten in the Fall of 1981. In order for a child to be eligible to attend kin dergarten in August, 1981, he or she must have been born before Dec. 1, 1976. If you have a child or know of some child in your neighborhood who might be of kin dergarten age, please call Harrison school at 653-2311 and the child's name will be put on the list. A letter containing in formation will be mailed in early February to all .parents of known kin dergarten age children. This letter will give the parents information regarding registration which will take place in March. If parents have any questions, they should call the school office at 653-2311. * PLANNING DINNER-DANCE The ladies of the Wonder Woods Women's auxiliary held their first meeting of the new year Wednesday, Jan. 14. One of the main topics of discussion at this meeting was the dinner- dance for all residents of Wonder Woods, which will be held Monday, Feb. 16. In vitations will soon be in the mail. The ladies of the auxiliary will be in for some busy months ahead. They are working together on a quilt which will be available at the subdivision summer picnic. This will be quite an endeavor and they will be happy to have help from any ladies in the subdivision who would be willing io lend a hand. A plant sale in Spring is another activity they are looking forward to. All women from Wonder Woods are invited to attend the meetings which are held on the second Wednesday of the month, in the home of Marge Evans, beginning at 1 p.m. SNOW SNAKE CONTEST Many years ago, Indian boys and girls spent their free time playing La Crosse and creating an instrument to play with in the snow called a snow snake. Recently, this custom was revived at North wood Junior high school. Many hours were put into creating a snow snake from a 2x2 piece of wood by students who wished to participate in the contest. By using a knife, wood plane, and a lot of sandpaper, the piece of wood was rounded on the sides, a head formed in the front, and the bottom smoothed down to create speed. They could be painted or varnished and Indian decorations applied. A bolt was added to the head to give the snake weight. The idea of the contest was to throw the snow snake on a course set up at the school and to achieve the greatest distance. The smoother the bottom, the farther the snake glided on the snow course, so wax was also applied to the bottom sur face. This activity, open to all students, was initiated by Mr. LaCrone, the Art in structor. SPECIAL DAYS Jan. 28 will find two young from Wonder Lake c e l e b r a t i n g .
