The McHenry grapplers, led by Brain Wrona at 119 pounds, had a fine month as Wrona, Joe Mullen and Vic Betancourt all finished first at the Jacobs Invitational. Wrona was named the outstanding wrestler of the day. In the 16-team Harvard tourney, Betancourt raised his record to 9-2-1 with a pin and two decisions as he took the championship at 155. Brian Wrona raised his record to 18-2 on the year in t h e R o c k f o r d - B o y l a n Tourney over the holidays. The girls also started their basketball season in December as McHenry beat Grant 45-40, but took two frustrating losses at the North Chicago Holiday Tournament. Johnsburg was sparked by a career-high 28-point performance by Inge Dschida in the season opener over Richmond, 52-37. They lost to Grant, 56-33 to end the year at 1-1.
