Some people like Katie do so much in their quiet way for others and you just take that for granted. You know they will always be there and the days will pass. When they are taken from you, those days seem so empty. Katie worked so hard with fund raising activities for Christ the King church, was given a life time mem bership to the Ladies Sodality, and never gave up her interest in the Wonder Lake Fire department. I wonder how many crocheted articles she made to be raffled off for different organizations. Her crowning glory were her eight children. Hardly a day went by that one of them McHENRY OPTICIANS This Valentine's Day show your sweetheart your heart's in the right place, surrounded by a bouquet of colorful balloons! Kay Rolow, Fine Arts chairman, told about a Communication scholarship that will be awarded to a Wonder Lake student. It will provide one student the chance to take part in a week-long workshop to be held at Eastern Illinois university, beginning June 14. Many areas of speech will be included in the workshop. Applications are available at the local high schools. Plans for the Woman's club first Art auction were discussed by Jeanne Kuziel, chairman of that event. The Art auction will take place Sunday, Mar. 8, at Christ the King hall with previewing from 2-3 p.m. During the preview, champagne and hors d'oeuvres will be ser ved. Tickets will be available from all club members and also sold at the door. J o a n n e H i g g i n s , scholarship chairman, showed the board a copy of the scholarship application that is now available to any student who is presently attending a college or university full time, or who plans to do so this coming Fall. Two $400 scholarships will be awarded to qualified Wonder Lake students. Students may receive in formation about the scholarship from the Guidance Counselors or dirsttly from Joanne Higgins Hie next club meeting will be the ninth annual potluck dinner Thursday, Feb. 19, beginning at 7 p.m. in Nativity Lutheran hall. ST. JOSEPH'S DAY Some cities, like Chicago and New York, are known for their St. Patrick's day celebrations and now Wonder Lake will be known for their celebration of St. Joseph's day. On Mar. 22, a St. Joseph's day feast will be served at Christ the King from 1-4 p.m. The Italian people in volved in planning this dinner, are going all out to make it very authentic right down to the loaves of St. Joseph's bread,* which everyone will receive. It is said that in Italy; this day is celebrated with as much excitement as Christmas. Anyone liking Italian food will definitely waht to mark Mar. 22 on their calendar. The cooking will begin the previous week in the authentic Italian style. This will definitely be a day to forget that diet! COMMUNITY CALENDAR Feb. 12 Garden club meeting; 8 p.m. 4215 E.
