One of the main topics discussed is the upcoming Easter Carnival which will be held Saturday April 11. This is the week before Easter. We decided to change the date because of so many people being busy and leaving town on Easter weekend. There's a lot of work and fun involved in our Easter carnival. First we start off the morning with an egg hunt. Then the children come inside and play games. Refreshments will also be served. Then comes the big event of the day, Miss McCullom Lake contest. There will be material printed later on the contest. We hope you are resting and feeling much better Denise Lillian Parent had cataract surgery done on her left eye last Fall. It was a full three-month recovery period until the stitches could be removed and glasses could be prescribed. She finally has her glasses and now has to condition herself to use them. Congratulations on a long and full recovery gram! MOVING AWAY I am sorry to say that 6ne of our dearest, hard working and concerned residents is moving. She is none other than Karen Parks. Karen and her family have resided here since 1969. She served as village clerk for six years, and as of late has served as village trustee in charge of beach and park. She has done a fine job in both positions. Karen is a fourth grade teacher at Bush Elementary school in Johnsburg. She and her ten-year-old son, Todd and seven-year-old daughter, Tara will be moving to Pistakee Hills. I'd like to say at this time from all of us here in McCullom Lake that we wish you lots of good luck and good times in your new home. You'll all be missed. WELCOME HOME I would like to take this time to welcome home Irene Suchor. Irene just spent the last two weeks in Florida, visiting friends and, of course, daughter Debbie who moved down there last Fall. It was nice to escape td Key West where Debbie lives, the weather was beautiful, but I'm sure Irene s^is glad to be home. I'm sure husband Ron and family are glad she's back also. BIRTHDAY PARTIES Heather Anderson celebrated her ninth bir thday Jan. 24. Her guests included cousins Ronda and Tina and friends* Wendy, Angie, Jenny, Rory, Amy, Kristed, Jason and brother Kevin. They all went to the show and then out for pizza afterward. Lovely gifts were received and a good time was had by all. Marcus Seifert celebrated his tenth birthday Jan. 31. Marcus and his friends Roger Gates, Todd Parks, John Lawson and Brian Lincoln went roller skating, and afterward they enjoyed delicious sloppy joes and jello cake made by mom, along with all the home decorations which adorned the Seifert household. Stephanie Kloeckner celebrated her fourth bir thday Sunday, Feb. 1 with a family party. On hand for the gala celebration were grandparents Bill and Elaine Gleeson, and Gill and Rose Kloeckner, aunts, uncles, cousins and friend Joy Miller. Refreshments and games were enjoyed by all. On the following day, Monday, Stephanie's parents, Ron and Lynn, took Stephanie and Joy sledding in Mouraine Hills. On Wednesday, Feb. 4, Stephanie's legal birthdate, a pizza birthday was enjoyed by the above mentioned. All in all, I would say Stephanie had a pretty wonderful birthday week. Statewide competition for the Illinois Teenworid contest has just been an nounced for Sept. 5-7, at the Hilton hotel in Springfield. Teenworid will select outstanding young women from all over the state to participate in the three days of activities. A $500 college scholarship will be awarded to the Illinois winner. She will also receive an all ex pense paid trip to the Teenworid national finals in Atlanta, Ga , and a $1,000 scholarship. The Teenworid program is designed to recognize young women, 14 to 18, who excel in scholastic achievement and community involvement.. Contestants are judged on poise, personality, grooming, and a speech or talent presentation, as well as scholastic and civic achievements. Entrants must have a "B" or better accumulative grade average and document at least 10 hours of volunteer service to a community or charitable organization. Swimsuit competition is not part of the program.
